well watching west v port today & seeing the work of cupido OFF the ball with his tackling, chasing etc (defensive game), was the move of cupido to defence for the first half of this season an education to damien on how to DEFEND & not just be an attacking but lazy footballer ?

Agree with BAYMAN
There were 3 reasons why Cupido has played in defence for so long

1 He now chases the opposition in the forward line
2 He was seen to handball inside 50
3 His team could not get past 9 goals ....

His stint in defence has improved his overall team play
His effort to kick 5 of 8 goals today with limited opportunities was very good

BAYMAN was that impressed he reckons Cupido could make Glenelgs team on the Interchange bench

I was at the game today & Cupido looks like he's put on a few kilo's.
I was just wondering does he actually train as much as the rest of the boys?
The bloke made the most of his opportunities today but could do with a few less kilo's & that spare tyre around his waist.
I thought Westies would be on the improve from round 1 but with what i saw today they havn't improved & must have atleast a 5 year plan coz they were ordinary & its gonna take alot longer than 3 years to be competitive.

Nothing new Bayman, Mickan did the same to Duldig in the pre-season trial games.
It's just Stupido is to slow to realise what is going on and to do the right thing.

It's made Dogger a better player this year :D

Cupido trains 3 nights a week and puts in just as hard at training as the others....i was watching him do some boxing sparring before the game and i wouldn't recommend anyone going up to him face to face calling him a fat overweight whatever....i recon' it would be lights out for those who do :D

Damian Cupido has been excellent this year, under difficult circumstances. The days of the pie jokes should be well and truly gone.

He had a good pre-season and his game form and work rate, in a side not winning, has been very good

Time to give some credit when it's due.

He still drops his oversized bundle when the going gets a bit tough...he still fails to chase and tackle when he simply can't be bothered.

Having said that - Cupido up forward is as dangerous as any other player in the competition.

Wow, I like how you use capitals to make a point Bayman.

LET'S SEE IF HE DOES THAT EVERY WEEK. I'VE SEEN WESTIES ABOUT 6 TIMES THIS YEAR AND FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN OF HIM, HE STILL LETS HIMSELF AND HIS TEAMMATES DOWN WITH HIS ATTITUDE AT TIMES.

On the same token, I also said that he is one of the most dangerous players in the competition.

On Cupido's physique, remember he is a South African and those boys seem to have a much bigger body size no matter how fit they get.

When he gets a full head of steam up there are very few players in the comp that can tackle him effectively.
Never argue with an idiot, those watching may not be able to tell the difference

Ah bugger...so how do I explain my physique then? I thought the BEER and junk food was a viable excuse for Cupido, so I was going to jump on board that wagon, and say "If a league footballer can do it, so can I..."

Whilst I have as much respect for Rucci's crap in the paper as anyone else, i was thinking it was worth mentioning (haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else on the forum), about one of his "articles" on the Roast in today's paper where he intimates that the coach of a "struggling coach" (obviously west with the $19.83 price tag), has tried to line up 13 prospective recruits from the VFL but has had his efforts stymied by his club due to lack of funds. Theres also reference to the club requesting players to take pay cuts, on 2 occasions this year.

I'm not referring to this because Rucci is a trusted source, but thought it's worthy of at least reporting that this is what he's written in his column.
