Only at Norwood. I guess the SANFL dont think Norwood fans will walk the streets smashing windows and vandalising cars after the game.

Obviously the SANFL thinks it's more of a Coopers Stadium issue than a Centrals v Norwood issue.

Or they guess there wont be any problems as the trouble making Norwood supporters wont have the balls to travel to Elizabeth at night.

It is because of the fact that the games at Norwood Oval are held on a Friday night and very close to a range of pubs. Too easy for people to travel there from work, be in pubs for a couple of hours before the game and so be inebriated enough to cause trouble at the matches. The solution could have been easy though: have the matches start at 6:30pm. Instead, Norwood are now confined to only having matches against teams that don't pull crowds at Norwood Oval.

I have my doubts... Norwood respond the worst to our supporters out of all the clubs - I will be surprised if we aren't discussing an incident by the end of the weekend. Hope I am wrong though.

I reckon Dogs V Norwood on Saturday night at Elizabeth will only get one chance to get it right.

Yes, there was only a few people at the Norwood /Sturt game 2 weeks ago. Other teams do have strong followings , not just the dogs while they are successful. I am sure most teams if they were riding the Bulldogs current wave of success would be bringing in the crowds too. It's human nature that some fans only attend when the team does well.
I do agree with the rest of your post though, could well be part of the reason for the past problems at those games, & starting earlier may have helped.
I always enjoy the night games at Norwood, always a really good atmosphere, something you don't really get at the night games at Adelaide or Elizabeth ( yet ? ).

Les, thanks for biting (slightly). I was only jesting about being confined to only hosting the low-drawing clubs.

Norwood Oval will always bring in a great atmosphere due to the fact that supporters have to be up close to the action.

I must admit, I thought the same and only found out earlier this week it's a night game, meaning I can't go due to prior engagement :( (lol and not for the reason Sammy suggested).

Weather should bring this game closer again, and if our boys have any semblance of pride after last years debacle, it could actually be a tight game.

damn, thought i almost had a bite

There is some truth in it though, games at the parade at night will always get a much more even split of supporters than those at Elizabeth, i guess for this reason the SANFL has decided, the larger the percentage of the crowd going for the same team means there is less chance of crowd trouble, which in theory makes sense, but we will see saturday night, hopefully they are right.

The problem isn't one of violence, it is one of lux.

It is so bloody dark at the Parade that people can't help but bump into each other.

And here I was thinking Centrals fans hated cheap generalisations.

That's an observation, not a generalisation.

If he'd called Norwood supporters a bunch of toffee nosed, late sipping, theatre attending poofs, that would be a generalisation.
