CALLINAN + ALLAN WHO IS BETTER ? + A TURNING POINT

A TURNING POINT ?
________________

CD 6-3
NA 3-6

NA had scored 1-3 to CD 1-1 for the quarter and were pressing CD
Deep in the forward pocket a beautiful ruck tap out to ALLEN on the run
and clear of any CD player and ALLEN kicks of the side of the boot and out on the full
Most times Jimmy would convert BUT ....

CD score the next 2 goals courtesy of Ian CALLINAN
including that sensational left foot snap from the pocket

The rest is history

WHO IS THE BETTER FOOTBALLER ?
______________________________

ALLEN
There is very little doubt that ALLEN deserved the medal after a brilliant season
He is a wonderful link man, tenacious ballgetter and subliminal skills are often on display.
CALLINAN
Is a goalkicking machine and kicks amazing goals and a very good onballer when needed,
his 2 sided skills are arguably the best in the competition.

I think CALLINAN is a marginally better footballer
Todays instance of ALLEN missing a gettable goal and CALLINAN kicking that freak goal
just about summises what Im posting.
ALLEN does great things seemingly most of the time
CALLINAN seemingly does great things all of the time

Both are outstanding players and the SANFL is a better standard with both playing

Well in the Budget it said he's off to the state screening test next week because a few clubs have asked about him.

Callinan better than Allan, Allan gets more of the ball but Callinan is class and more efficient with his use....Callinan only missed a spot on the Roos list this year when they went for Edwards, it was down to those 2 for the spot and he missed (I think they made the right decision BTW)

I think they are quite different players. Both sensational. Allen was the grunt that helped get North one step closer to where they want to be and Callinan is just pure class.

A bit harsh to have a crack for those misses at goal by Allan. The bloke almost carried the cocks all the way and deserves no sledge for a missed shot on goal, no matter what day it was.

Maybe Mal is just talking about Ty Allen from Glenelg?

Allan is a good player but does not have much of a defensive game did not work to pick up a player in the 2 games i seen him play. Both him and ladhhams get alot of easy kicks running behind the player who has marked the ball or received a free kick , normally under pressure. Watched Allan do this today but he ran past on the outside not the inside coughed the ball up Centrals ran it down and goal.

Allan also needs to get this bad heels fixed. Has played with sore heels for half the year and it affects his kicking and pace. Still a great player and ball magnet. Callinan is a deadset gun finisher but more prone to be out of the game for periods but that maybe partly due to the fact that O'Sullivan and Slade are top class rovers and spend lot's of time on ball so Callinan gets to rest up fwd.

North need a quick tough rover like Slade and O'Sullivan to help Allan next year if we are to finsih top 3 and have another crack.

Possibly could be but they have had some good ones come and go and they always seem to replace them with as good or better types of players. What is their secret?

Other class recruits that have played in premierships: Gowans x 2, Healy, Hulm, O'Sullivan... If I'd had more sleep I could think of more.
