Who's Eligible to playin Week 1 of the finals?

Postby Wedgie » Sat Sep 08, 2007 10:11 pm

I heard today that Ken McGregor can play for the Eagles next week, I assume that means Gill can play for North too. I thought they couldn't play in the week after the Crows stop playing though?
I would have thought only players like Douglas who didn't play for the Cows would be eligible next week?

I think the Crows and Power only hold back players they think need to stop playing to attend to injuries - rather than being a set rule.

So I assume Gill will be OK to go ..... great!

I'll stand corrected tho?

I'd say that that rule only applies in Round 23 (AFL finals have started), but not when the SANFL finals start.

Is there a set SANFL/AFL player interchange agreement?

Dunno.

Last year the Bays lost out in round 23 because Willitts and Logan played the 2 weeks before (the final 2 AFL rounds) and did have to miss one round.

Someone suggested because Douggie has played 3 of the last 4 weeks he should be ok. (and he didn't play today, so if he can't play next week booooo someone!)

Likewise, pretty sure if a Cows or Power player MISSED this round due to Injury, thhey could play next week, but the Cows player would have had to play the 3 games (but the Power player would not have)

Douglas will definately be eligible to play for the Bays having not played for the Crows today, there's no question about that one, the question is on the player's who played for the Crows today though.

I think the sitting out issue only arises when the AFL club doesn't make the finals. I'm not aware of any situation when a player who has qualified can't play SANFL once their AFL club is eliminated from the finals.

The rule only applies for Round 23 as mentioned. All qualified players can play next week if released by their AFL clubs.

This is what i like to see glenelg and north fans talking it up. Lets hope you get your way and everyone who is afl listed gets to play for your teams. This way it will just make that bond you have with the crows/power just that little bit stronger.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

I think they're only trying to rival the affinity Sturt had with wood throughout the late 80s and early 90s.

Yes we at North will be quite happy to have a selection dilemna this week with Perrie, Gill, White, Lonie and McIntyre (although he hasn't made his AFL debut yet) plus rookies in Gallman and Grose all available for selection.

It's a discussion about who might be eligible, noone is talking anyone up.
I look forward to Sturt turning away Mattner next week.

You don't care if Mattner or Bentley play next week then?

It's been a big issue for some Sturt fans all season I thought?

2 is about as many players as the other clubs are talking about coming back
