Am i right in saying there is only 8 South Australians in that team. If so is that some kind of record for the smallest presentation of South Aussies in an SA team.

By my count there is more Victorians in the side. I could be wrong though.

You could be on he money there.
I was thinking the other night how a state of origin match involving only SANFL players could generate some interest on a Friday night at Norwood but then when I thought about the possible selections for both sides I realised that SA would probably get thrashed! :(

Yeah it would be really embarrasing, it would be the Vic guys by how much?

It's fair to say as well that on this thread most have agreed that 3 players (O'Sullivan, Mikeljohn and Cranston) were extremley unlucky to not be selected. Two of them are not South Australian either (im not sure about Cranston).

Trev is a Victorian, you can add O'Hara to that list.

Fair to say we're sending over our 4th and 5th best Ruckmen (Micklejohn, Cranston and McKenzie I'd have in my side before those two who are on the plane now).

Mind you as a Bays fan I'm glad Trevys getting a rest.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If i was selector i would have had Cranston in for Parry, Meiklejohn in for Dabrowski and O'Sullivan in for Evans. So it would have been 3 vics in a 2 SA out.

Here's one, could the lack of "true" South Australians in the side have impacted on the selection of some players? You would think not BUT!!!!!!

Have a go at picking an all South Australian state team from the SANFL players only. Obviously they can't be players who are on a AFL list unless their rookie listed like C.Schmidt and B.Martin

The game is to be played tomorrow so players such as Paul Thomas, Daniel Havelberg are out of the equation due to injury.

I had a crack and the team was awful the last few positions i was scrambling for players. Ill try to come up with a better team and then i will post mine, it's tough work.

Well spotted 'whufc'. Does anyone else find this a distinct worry ?
I don't doubt the professionalism of our imports, but I can't help wondering about that special
extra percentage of effort, that only comes from a desperate all consuming pride in one's own state. :?

Still, I wish 'em all the best & hope the boy's tear the sandgropers 'a new one' !

Today's training run is cancelled because of the weather. I assume the ground is a bit slushy so they're saving it for tomorrow.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

That is correct Barto...

Arrived in Perth this morning with the LifeFM crew after a fairly bumpy flight in and went straight to Leederville Oval to check out vacilities and test phone lines etc.

Ground is in pretty good nick despite all the rain but were a few boggy patches so can understand wanting to keep traffic off it to ensure it holds up well. It does has 3 games on the oval tomorrow with the WAFL Under 18's and 20's doing battle as the curtain raiser to the State League game and then the WAFL Under 16's side take on a combined WAFL Youth team.

The ground as a spectacle looked lovely and standing out in the middle looking around, it sort of had a Woodville Oval feel to it. Was talking to an East Perth official who said he expects the ppor weather and terrible AFL scheduling to seriously effect crowd numbers. HE reckons we may only get between 2,500 and 3,000 to the game.

Went and checked in at the Crown Plaza Hotel and then grabbed some lunch only to be bombaded in the lobby area by both the State Team and the Collingwood Football Club who are obviously staying here as well, so a big footy contingent in this hotel. It is so bloody cold, windy and wet over here, but as a first time visitor, Perth looks lovely.

Just got back from state "training". The boys were playing funny buggers doing banana kicks by kicking the ball straight in the air.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
