biased opinion maybe, but would have to agree...
free kicks - south 27, bays 14

still room from improvement on what we saw from the boys today, though happy to have the win

while the umps made some mistakes i didn't think they were too bad, the 2 biggest blunders from the umpiring fraternity came from the boundary line umpires, i think our poor kicking at goal was more the problem than any umpiring decision the 2.9 in the first term v wwt cost us any chance in that game & the 3.8 in the opening term today kept south in it & gave them a sniff & had they had more experienced players out there well you never know...i've seen south twice recently & while there is a lot of inexperienced in that side you can see for the first time in a long time (barring 1 year) that there is light at the end of the tunnel

Carr and Fisher were ball magnets, Backwell worked into the game as it wore on and put his stamp on the game and Grima was fantastic crashing the packs (taking out Torney on one occasion!) and kicking 3 goals, 2 coming in the last quarter when the game was on the line.

For South fans at least you hung in there despire being outplayed, Boyd was good but when Sandery is your second biggest possesion winner deep in defence you've got some problems. At least you only play Port next week!

carr ball magnet? i didnt think so, when he did get it he dint know what to bloodydo with it

"Scalves" aren't they the things below Ita Buttrose's knees....

Not surprising there were lots of new Bays scarfs at Noarlunga today compared to South Scarfs, the South Scarf they made this quadrenium got sold in 2006....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Agree, agree, agree and agree. Umps made mistakes but they went both ways. I reckon those two boundary line blunders were made by the same ump.

South indeed played well - for spurts. So did Glenelg - in spurts. Both were ordinary in patches. Not a game which will feature heavily in the yearly highlights package for either club, I think.

38 touches - that doesn't qualify as ball magnet? I thought he was pretty good actually, a few times he looked a little lost, but he had quite a few clearances and inside 50 entries. And I'm certainly no Power or Josh Carr fan.

Hands up who's relieved to be sitting 3rd at 4-2 whilst playing stop-start inconsistent and sometimes absolutely crap footy?

In previous years we'd be 0-6 or 1-5 ... but, they have managed to find a way to win games, which is fine for April/May.

My main concern is the amount of goals kicked against us and the ability of teams so far this year to score quickly, and at times the lack of structure up forward... our defence is statistically the worst by far and we are not generating the run from down back as we have now been accustomed to.

Congratulations to South for pushing us until late in the game ... memories of those 2 losses to them last year were front of mind at 3 quarter time.

There are 2 good hitouts before the (long) break and we'll have a better idea of where we sit after that.

Finally, was it me, or does Super look fitter now than he did in his last game?
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Sunday's win against South Adelaide represented a good response by the players to last
week's very poor ANZAC Day performance. The competitive aspect returned to the team
and at some stage every player took his turn in this area. The players exhibited the fighting
spirit which always gives the team a chance to win. Clearly our skill level dropped away in
the third quarter and South's dogged determination took full advantage to take the three
quarter time lead. There was no panic in the group during the three quarter time break and
the composure, belief and fitness within the team held them in good stead to run the game
out strongly.
This game represented a step in the right direction with a clear understanding that there is
plenty of room for improvement.
Trevor Cranston's 100th game was typical of the type of effort we have become
accustomed to in his time at Glenelg. He is a spiritual leader of the team. His efforts to
contest effectively in ruck, follow up at ground level with an intensity that is rarely seen by
ruckmen at any level of the game and then to bring others into the game with well
executed handballs, is an inspiration to his team mates, coaches and supporters.
Trevor is a self effacing person who is always ready to acknowledge the inspirational
efforts of his team mates while modestly playing down his own inspiring performance.
Thank you Trevor, on behalf of everyone at Glenelg Football Club. You are respected by
this football club and by the wider football community. You are a credit to yourself and your
family. Well done on 100 great games for Glenelg.

That to me is the key statement of his message yep we didn't play well but the areas we identified last week as being completly inept we improved on. However, we know that despite being 3rd and 4-2 we still have lots of work to improve to get back to where we want to be.

Good opportunity coming up this week against North a team on the improve. Perfect opportunity for us to lift another notch and show continued improvement.

Im not suprised Josh did so well down there as South are the only club that welcome Carrs into their ground.

had plenty of petrol left in the tank..............

Could be a costly win for the Bays, and the rest of the comp. If Ethelton win this week they get off the bottom. A south Win vs bays would have given south a four point buffer prior to this week.

:?

Makes sense man !! Nothing better then having a "costly" win if it means either Port or South get the spoon....
