This is serious: Jars

WARREN PARTLAND

Article from: The Advertiser

NORTH Adelaide coach Andrew Jarman has not deviated from the message he has spruiked all season.
Until his talented side consistently beats last year's grand finalists Central District and Woodville-West Torrens the Roosters cannot be taken seriously, he says.

The season kicked off nicely for the Roosters when they accounted for the Eagles by 22 points in the opening round. But results have turned sour against the two power sides of the competition.

After being thrashed by the Bulldogs by 68 points at Adelaide Oval in round six, the Roosters have lost twice to the Eagles - by 79 points in round nine and 58 in round 19.

Now North gets another chance to prove itself against the reigning champions when it takes on the Bulldogs in Elizabeth tomorrow night.

"The footy world can't take us serious until we consistently beat those two sides," Roosters boss Jarman said.

"The players are aware of their responsibility on Saturday night and we know full well what to expect from Central District.

"The Eagles game two weeks ago was a kick up the backside for us. We have had two good weeks since (wins over Glenelg and South Adelaide). We now play two quality sides in Central and Port Adelaide and then the finals. That is a wonderful lead-in."

North would have gained some confidence from last week's win over the Panthers, when its tall forwards Daniel Hargraves, Clint Alleway and Nick Gill created havoc.

The Roosters looked a far more balanced unit without Ian Perrie, who played with the Crows.

The Bulldogs outworked and outclassed Glenelg last week in a performance more reminiscent of their premiership glory of recent years.

They have struggled to produce consistent four-quarter efforts but coach Roy Laird was more satisfied with what he witnessed against the Tigers.

Ruckman Paul Scoullar sparked the action but he will confront a formidable opponent in Crows-listed Ben Hudson.

The Bulldogs need to stop the North flow and cannot allow Scott Bamford and Leigh Ryswyk the freedom they had against South.

"Central will try to stop our run and it will play tough one-on-one footy," Jarman said. "But we will back ourselves in a shootout."

The Roosters included Tim Martin and Shane Edwards in a 23-man squad, while the Bulldogs regained Stuart Cochrane and Luke Cowan from injury.

Very interesting game,a battle of two completely differnet game plans.North like to attack, attack, attack and the dogs like to squeeze the life out of the opposition and then bury them.I just hope Jars doesnt complain if its not a free running attacking game for the spectators.I dont care if its stop start all night as long as we win.GO U DOGS

I can't wait! This is going to be a PUKN BALLTEARER! Please, all North supporters, come to the game tonight. You have no excuses, as it is only a 20 minute drive. Besides, my dole cheque doesn't come until next week & I need to collect some rims & hubcaps to sell at Sims Metal to support my drug habit & give some money to all my illegitimate children so that they can buy me a Father's Day present tomorrow. Trouble is, I don't know where they all live & Centrelink won't tell me as they reakon that it is none of my business-they only want my money for maintenance.

What's the emoticon for sarcastic prick?

Sunshine? What's your name? Ken Friggin' Cunnington? Now Wedgeman, if you care to partake in some friendly, tongue-in-cheek banter, be in front of the Grandstand at first bounce with all your mad Red & White feral bastards & we'll have a few frothies! Don't go & stand over the other side of the oval. We won't bite-most of us don't have any friggin' teef anyway! We're not that bad-I'm taking 8 of your mob to the President's Lunch/Dinner before the game & paying for them with my Centrelink cheque.

he he, sorry, I looked outside and saw the beautiful sunshine and it must have come through in my post.
In the 80s I used to stand in front of the grandstand but last time I was there an 80 year old chap threatened to put a deck chair through my head! (true story)
We'll have the kids with us tonight so we'll be in the outer so the kids can play on the beautiful grassy expanses of Elizabeth Oval but I will be at the North race when North run out as the kids are the mascots tonight so come over and say gudday then.
Latest forecast is that the rain may not hit the Northern suburbs until close to midnight so should be great conditions.

Happy Valley? It won't be tonight! Do you have to turn your clock back when you go home?

Yeah its a fair old hike most weeks, one of the reasons I love Bay games as its only 10 mins down the road.
Tonight we're making a pitstop at the Hampstead Hotel and catching a bus from there with some other North fans.

That 80 year old bloke was probably Kris Grant. He's still alive, just a little smellier, that's all.

Yeah, the 8 that are coming with me tonight are catching a bus from there. Wally Karpuik & some bloke called Rayner or Porter? Reckons he used to play for the Rooters a while back.

Should be a great game. I'm going for the Dogs, but only because it is a night game at the Pondarosa. If it was anywhere else, I'd probably go for North.
