Saturday May 23rd

- AAMI Stadium 2.40pm start - Adelaide v Carlton

Dockers are also playing in Melbourne Sat Aft v Kangaroos (12.40pm start WA Time)

- Subiaco Oval 5.40pm start (Perth Time) - Eagles v Collingwood

Darn, I wonder what time the WA v SA game will start.

Would have liked to have got to Subiaco post match but that would be unlikely.

on a more serious note i'd suggest as they do the draw the bottom placed (from 2008) west adelaide get the bye in the last minor round match & this should happen every year from now on

What about playing a double header with one of the AFL sides. SANFL game 1st at say 2:20 then the AFL game after. Would this be a viable option. ??

I am sure Port Power would appreciate the additional crowd numbers and it might remove the "go to an SANFL game or go to the AFL game" senario.

Maybe they could have some in between games entertainment. BBQ's, mini league, kick about etc so it becomes a whole day out experience. IIRC there is plenty of grassed area outside the staduim. Could that be used during the interval for all the family BBQ's etc ?

I remember when SANFL games used to be curtain raisers to AFL games. I reckon it was mid to late 90's the last time the SANFL played one. I don't mind the idea but for whatever reason I don't think they are all that popular with the SANFL hence they stopped doing them.

Yeah I can too remember but very vaguely. I think the clubs would lose too much on doing it, and also the SANFL would have to come to an agreement with the AFL to run it as a curtain raiser too. As long as Glenelg wasn't involved it wouldn't bother me (unless Glenelg played Sturt, then say ohhh Carlton played Port  )

The AFL game should be the curtain raiser for the SANFL game...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The SANFL MUST start programming Friday night games for the first 10 weeks of the season at Norwood, Adelaide Oval or Elizabeth....easiest way to guarantee big crowds, cant understand why they dont do it, seems a no brainer to me :?

Totally agree Dutchy,

They should be maximising the opportunities with better weather to pull in the bigger crowds in the Friday night timeslot.

More people will attend guarenteed, they can get the dose of SANFL and still have their own football / family commitments on the Saturday

thats a bit harsh maybe cental only get 1 point for a win rather than 2 that way if there good enough they can still make the finals. Also they can only have 1 Gowens on the feild at one time :)
