4) Round One may require something different as well. Traditionally the season starts in AFL Rd 2 with a Friday Night game at Coopers Stadium. Alas in 2009 that timeslot has the Crows hosting St Kilda at AAMI Stadium.
You sure about this Phil?
"Traditionally", in a year when the SANFL is playing in an inter-league match, the SANFL season starts the same week as the AFL season. This year (2008) was an exception due to the hall of fame game making the AFL season go a week longer than usual. The year before (2007) there was no inter-league match. Spelly can back me up??
The SANFL finishes 1 week after the AFL. With the AFL having 22 rounds, and the SANFL 23 rounds, by starting the same week the SANFL will naturally finish 1 week after AFL. Both leagues having 1 week off during the year cancel eachother out.
