No he was draftedat 75 because he was a NSW scholarship player and elevated before the actual draft. Wether he is ready or not is another matter and I haven't seen enough of him to determine that but if teh truth be told and AH knows this he was picked before all the others AFC 2007 draftees were.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

You need to explain this one to me once again. I've never heard of that before. How does that work with NSW contracted players? All I know is most of the others began in SANFL league teams whereas Taylor began in the reserves.

Yeah, its similar to the father son law except you only have to use your last draft pick on them, send an email to JMO, he'll explain it to you AH!

Wouldn't have thought being in a winning position against Sturt at Unley deep into the last quarter was carp but what would I know?

Sorry A Hawk I thought with your knowledge of footy you would've known about the NSW Scholarhip scheme. Wedgie and SJABC have provided the info on it. Basically each club can pre-select their NSW scholarship player before the draft and use their last pick as Adelaide did last year with Walker.

Hey I still rate Tippett, never thought he was worthy of a rising star nom yet. But Im still a fan. Think he adds plenty for the crows more so when he gets in the ruck because it gets him in the game. At FF he gets taken by the best or 2nd best defender and is not ready for that at this stage.

But back on topic to the sanfl, walker is a good young player but not ready yet for the cows.

Tippett's a perfect example of what happens if you promote a player too early.

So when will we know when he is ready???
How many SANFL games should he play - is there some "industry" standard on minimum games before your AFL debut???
The fact he is only 18 is no excuse to not playing him.

How old were Ben Hart and Roo when they got thrown in to see if they would make it? If you don't give the kid a chance (and he deserves it) then you will never know how far way he really is but I have not heard any compelling fact to support this "he's not ready line"! This not ready arguement and age is a cop out IMO. His body may not be as developed but that will happen in time.

I think he is capable but I think the Crows feel there is more to gain by getting another 5-10 SANFL games out of him than there is to put him into their side this year. The only question remaining is whether that holds true given their selection quandaries which have arisen due to injury.

Tippett is struggling but that's mainly because of the horrendous delivery our forwards have been getting for the past month or so. How you're supposed to mark when you're outnumbered and the ball is just bombed long is beyond me. AAMOF, he played well on Saturday and his first half was very good. He was leading hard up the ground and cuasing the Pies some concern.
