STOP PRESS - A Weekend to Reflect and say Thanks

Postby Squawk » Fri Jun 06, 2008 12:05 am

This coming Monday is the Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday, but did you know that it is also Volunteer’s Day?

Volunteers Day is a day to recognise all the volunteers in the community and at all of our beloved SANFL footy clubs there are many who make small and large contributions.

So if you’re at the footy this weekend watching your team play, (especially on Monday), take a moment to move your eyes and ears away from the ground and to see the hard work being put in by the silent contributors off the field. And if you are so inclined, take a moment to approach your club’s volunteers and say “thanks mate – you do a great job as a volunteer and you are a very important and valued part of our club.” I’m sure the volunteers would love a little bit of acknowledgement from the weekend members and supporters.

After all, it’s not that hard to say thank you, is it? And yet it means so much.....

I'd like to say thanks to all the volunteers who have made this such a fantastic website, and enabled me to follow the SANFL so closely from so far away.
Thanks! :)
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Ironic that on Volunteers Day 2 clubs insist on games to make the volunteers do work, if they had any respect they'd give them the day off and have had the game on Saturday or Sunday.
