I mean how many of us werent at that game, that game has a great deal of relevance to footy within the last 30 years or so (which is what we mainly discuss on this forum) in the SANFL. 1 goal in a game 100 years or so ago when obviously (ah theres that word again) the amount of goals scored on average was a lot less that in modern times, well i dont believe it has much relevance to the football world in todays times.

As for the game itself, well my great great great grandmother was there that day, she rocked up in her horse and cart. She was going to take Edmund Barton with her but he couldnt make it as he had a date with Napoleon Bonaparte's daughter that day.

1905 is as relevent as 1989, even more so as they're both history and Port only managed 1.6 which was less than North managed in 1989.
If we want to be selective in history I'm quite willing to go back to the year I was born as that would be fair.
North 2 GF wins over Port.
Port 1 GF win over North.
I'd be even happy only going back 8 days if you wish.

Well GWW - if your not that concerned about 1905 or the past e.g. before you can remember, then maybe you shouldn't claim the 36 flags your club has won? All of them are history recent or not?

Yes, that was the same era that i was born in too Wedgie, it was obviously one of the key eras in North's history, but Port, well we've actually got a few, 6 in a row in the 50's, 2 premierships in late 70's, 2 in early 80's, 3 towards end of 80's, 2 in mid 90's. I guess if we are going to look at history, i'd say that Port would be considerably in front if we look at total amount of premierships won by both clubs.

But anyway i guess we're getting off topic a bit. We could probably go on and on, and make points (cheap shots?) about each other's clubs who have both had their ups and downs over the years. I guess the main thing is we both love our clubs and are willing to defend them when theyre being criticised by others. Its great that we can discuss/debate SANFL footy like we can (and thanks to you for this forum, its brilliant), which indicates that its in great shape.
