People disinhibited by alcohol or other "recreational substances" are much more likely to behave impulsively and aggressively if it is in their nature.

Exactly - "if it is in their nature"

So the problem isn't the alcohol - otherwise it would be true of everyone...

Alcohol doesn't start fights... but it can start fires, apparently...

Yes, the disinhibition just brings out what is there - as the Romans said. "In vino veritas".
Unfortunately, there is a lot of aggression in many heavy drinkers and they are the problem ones.
In my youthful drinking days I just got [more] amorous.

I become funnier. Hard to believe, I know. Then I get a headache and have to go home...

The real problem rests with the way alcohol is administered. People selling the stuff tend to forget that there is a legal obligation on them regarding responsible service. Too often the cycle goes:
1) ply someone with drinks till they either fall over or start a fight
2) kick them out of your premises
3) wash your hands of any ongoing responsibilty for their health or welfare once they are out the door
4) count the money you made off them

Yes that West guy was banned by his own club - he was making an arse of himself for more than just that game. IIRC, he was having a go at the players and the coach (Rehn).

Was the incident that sparked this thread the punch up at the playground gates at half time? I had ring side seats for it. The security were as much to blame as the Sturt supporter in that one.

It was just before half time I'm guessing as the cops had a guy behind the Mackay stand just before the 3rd 1/4 started.
