POS TEAM P W L D POINTS
1 STURT 7 5 2 - 10
2 GLENELG 6 5 1 - 10
3 CENTRAL DISTRICT 7 4 2 0 8
4 SOUTH ADELAIDE 6 3 2 1 7
5 EAGLES 6 3 2 - 6
6 NORTH ADELAIDE 6 3 4 - 6
7 NORWOOD 6 2 3 1 5
8 PORT MAGPIES 6 2 4 - 4
9 WEST ADELAIDE 6 - 6 - -
This is the ladder after round 7

Not a bad ladder, eh! For an official one! We've got Centrals playing 7 games at 4 & 2, the Eagles playing 6 games at 3 & 2 (two errors here). FFS SANFL, this is an official ladder. I can forgive the SA Footy ladder for having an error, it's not official(as at this morning the SA Footy one has us as 7 games, 5 & 2). Now I know we've got West, but really - add some percentage...

And my ladder, in reverse order of games lost:
Code: Select all
         CLUB      P   W   L   D   PTS

1st   Glenelg      6   5   1       -2
2nd   Sturt        7   5   2       -4
3rd   Central      6   4   2       -4
4th   South        6   3   2   1   -5
5th   North        6   3   3       -6
6th   Norwood      6   2   3   1   -7
7th   Port         6   2   4       -8
8th   Eagles       7   3   4       -8
9th   West         6   0   6       -12

When you think about it, this method is equivalent to the conventional method of ranking based on number of wins, insofar as the two methods converge to the same result over time.

However this method is much more aesthetically pleasing.

Or there is the NBL appraoch which looks at the % of games won of those played:

P W L D %won
Glenelg 6 5 1 83.33%
Sturt 7 5 2 71.43%
Centrals 6 4 2 66.67%
South 6 3 2 1 58.33%
North 6 3 3 50.00%
Eagles 7 3 4 42.86%
Norwood 6 2 3 1 41.67%
Port 6 2 4 33.33%
West 6 0 6 0.00%

That shows the real state of play - takes out the impact of the bye.

agree with this one, how can Sturt be above Glenelg when they have lost one more game? :?

At least they didnt leave a team off the ladder like the Advertiser today for the AFL (check out the back page of todays paper - only 15 teams in the comp!)

Fear not O'Dutchman, it will be corrected in two weeks time when Sturt have their bye..
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
