Sounds like a great idea on paper...everyone getting together for a few post game socials. Trouble is I wonder how long it will be before a bad loser and a smug winner have one beer too many...I doubt if any club would be immune to a few supporters who could easily take things too far and ruin it for the rest.

Unfortunately I think that it is a bad idea. Can you imagine, your side has just been pumped* & you are standing listening to all those smug opposition supporters, when someone decides to be a real smart arse & revert to stuff like "get out of here you losers" etc., etc. It will be on for one & all!

I think its a great idea, Ive been to several pressos with people from other clubs hanging around and there's never been a hint of any trouble, people generally enjoy seeing supporters and players from other clubs hanging around.
Boots been on the foot at other times with me being at other club after a win or loss, no probs.
Im sure with North and South supporters it will be fine.
Im looking forward to it as I wouldn't normally get the opportunity to hear Jack Cahill speak at pressos, also lots of North supporters live down south and wouldn't even consider going back to the Hampstead after an away game.

Perhaps not the way I would have worded it,but I agree.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the idea either.

For what I heard South didnt hold presentations after the game at Alberton. Perhaps the club is looking to avoid having anything at Noarlunga after away games.

I like the idea as I have often stayed back at other clubs such as WA,NA and Scum to hear pressies. But could see problems if say a player was deliberately KO'd during a game could be cause for some very tense times. Also a problem with opposition supporters/players talking while other teams coaches/players talking.
Will look forward to hearing how this all pans out.

SOUTH V NORTH - new after match presentation format

Members are advised that the Clubs have agreed to a new format for this season which shall apply both at Prospect and Noarlunga. Rather than trekking back to the Hampstead in our case, or Noarlunga in theirs after away games, we shall conduct a combined after presentation at the host club.

* MC shall announce the results of all minor grade games
* Both Senior Coaches , Andrew Jarman and Jack Cahill, shall give an overview of the game
* Best players from each Club to receive their awards.

Norwood hosted after match presentations after the 2001 Centenary clash v Sturt at The Parade. I think it is a great idea but just a note of caution, hopefully both sets of supporters show the opposition coach a bit of respect and reman silent whilst the awards are being read out. This was not the case when Phil Carman took the stage at Norwood.

Remember back may years ago when the Bays and North were right up there, wasn't so much the players etc staying back for pressos but an 8 ball comp, either at the Bay or Prospect, made for a great night with blokes like McDermott/Kernhahan etc vs the north guys and vice versa and then the supporters got involved and played the winners, made for a great night but these days that respect seems to have gone alot, and of course opposition supporters if they like a beer or 10 may not hang around because of the drink driving chance of getting caught, especially if you have to drive north to south or whatever

This from nordberg on the Roost:

It was okay - not a hell of a lot of South people there and a few of their players by passed it despite our encouragement to get them in - they were humiliated enough!

Jack didn't talk (I don't think he was even there?) - Torney gave a quick speech but they did no player awards so I can't see the point in it.

Good on the South players, officials and supporters who stayed - after a flogging like that, the opposition presentation ceremony is the last place you would want to be at!

After the thrashing that we got from Sturt Jack Cahill refused to hand out any awards for best players, no doubt the same went down after the North game as well!
