PORT ADELAIDE MAGPIES’ XAVIER WATSON WINS ROUND 3 COCA-COLA STAR SEARCH AWARD NOMINATION

Xavier Watson from the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club has been named the Round Three Coca-Cola Star Search Award nominee.
In just his third League appearance, and first of the season, 19 year old Watson was outstanding in the Magpies’ 43-point win over the Woodville-West Torrens Football Club at Woodville Oval on Saturday.
Playing on the wing, Xavier accumulated 22 possessions, including 11 kicks, 12 handballs, one mark and three tackles.
Xavier, originally from Tooligee on the Eyre Peninsula, has progressed through the Magpies Under 17’s, Under 19’s and Reserves after being recruited from the United Yeelanna Football Club, part of the Great Flinders Football League.
Watson won the Magpies’ Reserves best and fairest award last year. He made his League debut against traditional rivals Norwood in Round 21 of the 2007 season with a performance that saw Xavier nominated as the Round 21 Coca-Cola Star Search Nominee.
