Am expecting a closer game than many predict. We are definitely nowhere near our best. Reminds me of the start to 2006 when we lost to Glenelg by 95 points and then went down to the Eagles the following week. I don't think we will hit our straps until Round 6 or 7. Don't forget that Norwood were in front of us for most of the encounter the first time we played them last year.

Cheers

Good morning one & all, I trust you are all well. Speaking to The Big Heater yesterday confirmed most of our suspicions-We are probably 2 to 3 weeks away from the level of fitness required to be competitive at this time of year, so don't expect us to flog The 'Legs this Saturday night. We should win & it will probably be a scrappy, ugly match. I have glued some sandpaper to Heath's palms, so he shouldn't be dropping too many more easy marks this year. The future looks bright, as we have Faulkner, McCabe, Steinberner,Giles & Noodles to come back into the league side. Now bugger off to work.
P.S. Good morning to all the Emo's out there xxxxxx

No, they were quite confused, actually. They couldn't work out why we were still supporting our team, even though we had just lost. I guess that is the difference between true supporters & a mob of bandwagoners. One of them actually said, "why are you still cheering, you just lost?!" So we just pointed, laughed & jeered some more.

Looking forward to see the doggies bounce back this week after a disappointing loss to sturt. We should win by 6-7 goals. I am expecting havelberg not to kick 14 goals again.

So do the Doggies supporters out there think that there will be many changes to our senior line up this week, after last weeks poor showing ???

Although the scoreboard might not have showed it on the weekend, there are a few guys playing okay in the reserves and we do have a couple coming back that will push for League selection this week, I assume. Boyle, Musolino, Steiberner were okay on the weekend and could come in ?

I guess it would be a bit of a risk bringing back guys like Luke McCabe and Elijah Ware (Noodles) if they haven't played for a few weeks, but then do we run them off the bench and work them into the game ? Personally I think they may bring Luke McCabe back in for his experience, probably at the expense of Lee Spurr. Noodles will probably come back through the seconds (if he is even back this week, not quite sure ?)

Interesting to read what others think, but I guess at the end of the day we'll just have to wait til tomorrow evening to see what Roy and his match commitee decide to do ? Should be an interesting night at the selection meetings... ?

Regardless of who we put on the park, I'm sure ALL the boys, both League and Reserves will be very keen to make amends for last weeks poor performances. Hopefully we get clear weather and should be able to power away to comfortable wins in both grades...

For those not wanting to wait 'til the Advertiser in the morning, following is the Doggies line up for the clash against the Redlegs:

CENTRAL DISTRICT FOOTBALL CLUB LEAGUE SQUAD
SATURDAY 12th APRIL 2008 Vs NORWOOD @ HAMRA HOMES OVAL, ELIZABETH

Full Forward: Scott Dutschke, Daniel Havelberg, Lee Spurr
Half Forwards: Ian Callinan, Heath Lawry, Charles Slattery
Centre Line: Adam Switala, Chris Gowans, Leigh Westhoff
Half Backs: Trent Goodrem, Daniel Schell, Ryan Williams
Full Backs: Andrew Hayes, Yves Sibenaler, Richard Cochrane

Rucks: Earl Shaw, Paul Thomas, Matthew Slade

Bench: (from) Jason Mackenzie, Chad O’Sullivan, Cameron Faulkner, Matthew Westhoff & James Moss

IN- FAULKNER M.WESTHOFF MOSS (all to debut if selected)

OUT- COWAN (injured - Knee)

Will be interesting to see if Luke McCabe is back from his hammy injury and lines up in the reserves ? I personally think Matty Westhoff will get his League debut on the weekend. Good luck to him if he does. I reckon Cam Faulkner might even come in as well, possibly at the expense of Lee Spurr. Although named to start, we all know that this means nothing, it's just the team release for the media.

Should be a good game, looking forward to getting a bit of form back into the boys, hopefully we can put 4 consistant quarters together ?

For those interested in knowing, following is Centrals 'magoos' team for the Norwood clash:

RESERVES: Baldwin, Boyle, Brading, Cole, Duncan, Giles, Hadden, Hudson, Matson, McGrath, McShane, Moss, Musolino, Officer, O'Hara, Porter, Steinberner, Stengle, Ware, M.Westhoff, Whiley, White, Woods.

Good to see Steiny named again, hopefully after putting a few consistant games together in the 2's, he might be able to find his way back into the seniors. I certainly hope he does. Also, great to see Noodles (Ware) in for his first "official" game for the year after being away on honeymoon. I look forward to him finding some of his best form and getting back into the League team sooner rather than later, I think he brings a little bit of extra goal kicking prowess to our line up.

I reckon Matty Westhoff is a good chance to make his League debut but if it is really wet and slippery maybe young Mossey might come in ? In saying that though, Cameron Faulkner has come onto the extended bench in the League squad and is not named in the reserves. So based on this information, I would say then, that out of the players named on the interchange, Buckets Mackenzie, Cam Faulkner and Chad O'Sullivan will probably play in the late game. Cameron might finally get to make his League debut after a few Reserves games before going into the AFL.

Also, I noticed no Luke McCabe in either of the teams listed, so obviously his hammy was worse than first thought. After a year off, I really hope his "older" body can hold up to the rigours of training and playing once agian. I feel his experience and toughness will be needed in the bigger clashes. Maybe the medicos and match commitee thought by giving him one more game's rest this week (and then the bye next week) 2 more weeks will give him enough time to get his ailing body right for the BIG ANZAC DAY clash against The Roosters ???

Thanks for the info, Phil - minor point though; Cam Faulkner would be playing his 1st league game for Centrals if he were to be picked.

Thanks for that SMAC...

Oh my god, the Media Hawk makes a mistake  , that's unusal...

I have edited it to now mention Cam will probably debut in the Red White & Blue of Centrals. :D

I did know that, but it had already been mentioned a couple of times with him being named to play League but then being a late withdrawal with an ankle injury. It just felt like he had already played, but it was also mentioned in the 'Tiser today. 8)
