That's about the point I think it all began. But then again, the practise of the away team with the white shorts was good enough, I thought.

In the olden days at one stage wasn't it black shorts for home team and white shorts for away team regardless of colours?
I don't like that idea.

I'm not a fan of that either, but the white shorts for the away team and the home team to have their normal shorts would be good for me.

The only reason this is now an issue is because of TV , nothing else. For those AFL clubs that are so dumb and dont have an away strip quite simply they are missing out on 000's of dollars . Crickey look at the Aussie cricket team , they change their shirt every year for the one dayers . I wonder why ? For the SANFL sides I think its just a thing to do to keep modern , they wont make much money out of it.

Central wear only white shorts IIRC, so make them wear RED ones for home games

Carlton's Navy jumper, would outsell the white one, ten times over.

Not always ....

Sorry to use AFL examples on a SANFL post but .... Carlton wearing white shorts v Geelong is a shocker, yet the other way around its OK. Essendon in white shorts v the Saints is terrible, not so bad the other way around. Ditto Power v Collingwood ... the list goes on

1999 GF NM were made to wear white shorts v Carlton because it looked better on TV even tho NM had in theory earned the right to wear what they wanted. Ditto Geelong in last year's GF.

That's the problem - having away teams wear white shorts doesn't automatically fix clashes.

The SANFL has less clashes than the AFL so its less of an issue IMO, having less teams is one factor. That's why the AFL need to get on top of the issue now if they intend to expand to 18 teams.

True. I suppose I was thinking more along the lines of one with white and the other the normal, pending on the clash, the home with the normal gets the nod.

I saw Centrals today and thought it was excellent.

The eagles should concentrate on a decent home strip first I reckon.

Anyway , how do Carltom risk a 110k fine ?

What will Sturt be fined for not wearing their nominated light blue shorts as they annonunced prior to round1??

Central has worn red shorts with it's current jumper... IIRC the word "ghastly" was used in the press to describe it, and with good reason. I for one am thankful that Central chucked 'em in.

1992 v us I reckon Psued.....we were 8 goals down @ 3/4 time and came home with a wet sail to pinch it...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
