Game tonight

Postby gadj1976 » Fri Apr 04, 2008 9:20 pm

With the Saints and Bullies playing tonight, I would've thought tonight would've been a prime chance to promote the local league.

Disappointed that there isn't any game on tonight!

Any thoughts?

I'm a huge wrap for Friday night sanfl footy. It would be good to see the league programme a game on Friday Night every week of the regular season.

Pfft, stupid idea, why play Friday night games in early April when its traditionally mild when you can play in late May when its traditionally cooler and wetter. You'd never get a gig in the SANFL with that sort of far out thinking Gadj.

So Wegs (and others), serious question, what can be done about it? The SANFL (as an entity) would be tucked up in bed, while the AFL game STARTS at 8.45 on TV.

It's absolutely ridiculous that the AFL cannot be live, so it's PRIMED for the SANFL to exploit the misgivings of the AFL/Channel 7 that everyone will sit around till 11pm to watch the AFL result. Sheer and utter stupidity IMO.

Probably appears worse this year as originally they couldn't plan Friday Night Adelaide Oval into the program and Norwood can't have a home game every week.

Hopefully next year we can count on the Parade, Elizabeth maybe Adelaide and....Glenelg.

Four venues for night footy would be a winner ! Friday night footy is great...

Glenelg would be awesome, I couldn't think of a better place to have Friday night footy.

Lets hope its better than Norwood & Centrals. Great spot to watch at the bay. Norwood & Elizabeth as metioned before are below standard for SANFL.

Wouldn't you have thought if they were below standard for our league the SANFL wouldn't have approved it for games to be played there ???

Agreed, from a spectator point of view, there does seem to be a few "dark" spots at Elizabeth, but I think that is only because we have such a lengthy oval that it seems worse than it looks. Maybe they need to few extra lights on the towers to improve this a little and I reckon there are a few dark spots in the outer that could be light up a bit better ?

I don't think Norwood is too bad, maybe just a few extra lights on the towers like at Hamra Homes Oval, Elizabeth.

What was wrong with Norwood last Fri night OCT (I'm inquiring about the ground, not the team btw)?

I agree , obviously the SANFL thinks its up to standard , but what bstandard? 1979? The rest of your points are correct too many dark spots , so maybe they need extra lights or extra wattage from the ligthts . Got me buggered , you are saying that the lights are too dim as well.

Why did the SANFL approve them , quite simple I reckon , another venue to have lights. There musr be a STANDARD for players and spectators . I hav espoken to a lot of players from all sides and they say they are OK , but could be better .

I reckon the criticism of the lights at Norwood have been somewhat justified in recent years, however I know the club replaced a fair whack of globes for last weeks game and I thought it was noticeably better ... Will be interested to see what it's like next time around.

except for the 8 weeks in june/july, i think there should be one friday night game every week & i also think that instead of playing a live match against the afl (like north v wwt last week) why couldn't the abc replay the friday night game on saturday after all it is in delay anyway
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I suspect there's a clause in the contract that prevents that from happening. But it seems that's only limited to premiership matches and not State matches. Whatever it is, any old excuse will do.
