In 2004 and 2005 North played Eagles at Prospect late in the year. Both years it was the ABC match of the day and the weather was inclement both times. The crowds were 3044 and 2879.

Thus if the Crows hadn't played it is fair to assume that the crowd would have been in the vicinity of 3000 at least. I knew of a few North fans and at least one Eagle fans who went to the Crows.

The problem really is the AFL, Adelaide AFL games always have smaller crowds than at other times over the weekend, but I think that if the AFL does schedule a Crows game on Saturday afternoon in Adelaide, then the SANFL should schedule a Port game at Alberton to have the least impact on SANFL crowds. It ain't rocket science.

Or South vs West at Noarlunga, as nobody will attend it anyway.

I agree if the priorities lie with the Tingles or Smears then hey their loss.

I'd rather go to a GFC club over ANY AFL game including the Blues.

The SANFL is where it's at and if some of the so called footy addicts who attend every AFL game
actually got off their ass and attended a SANFL game they'd realise the same thing.

Yes, so why not schedule the SANFL games at a time when they may attend (eg. not when their AFL teams are playing) so there is a chance that they can be converted :?:

Fair point, but the only game affected was the North v Eagles.

See how the crowds go Saturday with all games scheduled for the same day, and the AFL on the Sunday.

i sense the crowd figures wont swell that much with the AFL being on sunday.

as mentioned the EAGLES v North game was the only game affected and the Eagles dont have a huge following as it is, so i wouldnt have though the tingles playing at the same time would really affect there numbers.

The total crowd for both this year and last year after round 1:

2007- 19003
2008- 17711

Considering that there was no AFL match in Adelaide on Saturday in Round 1 (SANFL) last year and the weather forecast this year (it was fine last year), the total this year is comparable with last year.
