Depends on which SANFL Tribunal he actually faces. The one that sat after the GF last season should see him get off, perhaps even get given a game's credit for next time.

Seriously, he would be unlucky to get a game, a reprimand for a debut incident would be the right decision, IMO. It was a reflex action and no harm was done to the Port player involved (sorry, forgot his name already).

I was listening to 1197 on the AM dial yesterday morning on the way to work and on the local sports show the guys that did the commentary of our game saturday night said they saw it through their binoculars and there wasn't really much in it...

In fact they said that he was just retaliating to Vinie Rugolo who instigated the whole incident...
It's the same old same old isn't it, it's always the retaliator that gets caught... ?

Anywa, they went onto to say their wasn't much malice in it and that as a youngster with no bad history or record (from other comps - juniors etc.) he should be fine and just get away with a slap on the wrist, maybe a suspended sentence to teach him a lesson.

I did see it happen from the grandstand wing and must admit, I thought it looked bad, but that was with the naked eye, not through binoculars...

I think the SANFL tribunal hearings get held on Tuesday nights (tonight) as there was a media relase from Glenn Rosser at the SANFL saying that the video match review have now got another Port Power rookie (Sturt player Mitch Farmer) to go to a hearing tonight. I think that was for rough conduct on Norwood skipper James Gallagher. I was at the game and did see when James came off with the blood rule but wasn't sure how it eventuated... ???

If this is the case, hopefully their will be something either published in the Advertiser (I doubt it) tomorrow, or the SANFL will post any results on their web site...

Hope this helps...

I didn't see it unfortunately. Judging by the reaction of the players it didn't seem terribly serious so if anything perhaps will get a reprimand.

After reading Phil Herdon's match reports, I can only concur. I went to the league game and thought the game tough and hard. It wasn't of the best standard I've seen at an SANFL game. I thought some of the games last year, ie. Eagles v North late in the season were far better displays of League footy. The streaker while funny, was deplorable. I couldn't beleive that no players, or officials or security went anywhere near the guy before he'd done most of the oval. Shitehouse from security. At any other major sporting contest, the guy would have been dragged well before he got to the middle.

Apart from that, while it is good to see Central's win yet again, I reckon the lighting needs an upgrade, to cope with night footy. I wouldn't expect Footy Park (AAMI stadium quality) but Norwood Oval (Coopers Oval) is far better in quality in comparison. Night footy is a good idea, and the crowd numbers support it, so support the crowd and the players and give them better lights.

At the end of the day a flattering scoreboard for the Central's league side and they are going to have to play better, skill wise to down Sturt at whatever they call Unley Oval now! (check out the footy budget again for that!). On paper they should have been 7-8 goals better than Port but were lucky to win by 20 points. Especially as with only about 5 or 6 minutes to go it was only 7 points.

What were you expecting them to do?

I personally do not have a problem with the lights, but like just about everything in life, they could be improved, and i would not be suprised at all to see the addition of an extra 2-4 light towers within the next 3 years.

Nothing wrong with the lights ON the ground - they are more directed than the lights at most other grounds as this is something that was only perfected in recent years. Off the ground it is a little dark in places, but it is certainly acceptable for league footy.
