i never said it was surprising because he does come home to catch up with family & friends when he can

I think a lot of, if not all AFL players had the weekend off to take a break with family and friends before the season kicks off as Matty Campbell was at Norwood too.

In regard to the 30k transfer, I thought the max was 25k or has it gone up?
Also if a ridiculous amount was asked Im sure the club looking at making the transfer would have taken it to the group at the SANFL that decides on this matters.
Sounds like a bit of embelissment to me.

wedgie, from what i understand (& been told) that there is a point system in place & in this case josh is a $15,000 or similar & norwood offered a bit less & dc wouldn't back down from his asking price of a lot more than that & they never met in the middle, so the 'transfer' never happened, there is another 'glenelg listed player' that trained at & wanted to go to norwood & glenelg also asked 'way too much' to norwoods thinking, he played i believe 2 u/19's games before being drafted to st kilda & after being delisted at the end of last year wanted to play for norwood his name is phil raymond & i think he's gone to play in country victoria but not completely sure on that

What we wanted for Phil Raymond (from what I was told) was a lot less than $13 000 and only slightly more than what the Fosdike family were happy to pay for a 15 yo Nick (i.e. for a player not even on our 17s list) to transfer to Norwood over 10 years ago.

Maybe Norwood are only happy to pay the transfer when they aren't actually paying???
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Don't see that there's much of an issue to it ... If the Bays or any club are concerned about losing players (both now and in future situations) then good on them for not rolling over.

I'd take a guess that our club did exactly the same thing with Bailey and Minson, and I would hope they have.

Tassie - Did Norwood not pay anything for Vlatko, Yeomans or Culpitt?
