"Full Points Footy newsletters are normally sent out monthly, but for reasons which I won’t bore you with, this is the first such newsletter of 2008. I have added very little to the website since the turn of the year as I have been concentrating on getting the first volume in my projected series of club encyclopedias ready for publication. Had I realised what a time consuming, fiddly and downright onerous task it was going to prove I might have had second thoughts – but who am I kidding? It’s been a fantastic experience, and despite having more than a little of the Tolkein about me, there have been occasional fleeting nanoseconds when I swear I’ve felt something approximating to satisfaction when I ponder the finished product.

That finished product was published today in the UK and is now available online at http://stores.lulu.com/fullpointsfooty Clicking on the link will take you to a description of the book including pricing information. If you click on the title of the book you will be able to view some additional details about it, including a selection of sample pages. Please feel free to email me if the information supplied doesn’t answer all of your questions.

It will be a few weeks yet before the book is available in Australian bookshops.

Looks like a good read there JAS, Squawk, John... Good pictures and a lot of information. The author looks to have a bit of flair with the pen too. I wouldn't mind getting a copy for myself, except I don't buy things over the internet. I'll have to wait for my next trip down under or hope it turns in to one of those rare books that become so popular that they make them available in Japanese bookstores.
One thing I am curious about after seeing the sample pages was why has he chosen to make a summary of how SANFL clubs have fared for the brief period from 1977 to 1990? I am guessing that perhaps there is a summary for other time frames of the SANFL's history on other pages, that weren't included in the sample section. Interesting though. Glenelg looks like a "super" club with the second highest success rate for the era, though they are third behind Norwood and the thong thieves in terms of premierships won.

theri...maybe not a book to oder by post anyway if 700 pages is correct...it would cost a fortune in postage . Are the bookshops over there willing to place an order for anything they don't stock like they do here?...might be worth just taking them the publishing details and asking.

Btw the price on the site it links to is the equivilent of around $69AUS according to my convertion thingy

That is something I have never tried JAS. Some bookstores here have good English sections; four or five aisles, so obviously they do a fair bit of business with foreign bookstores. I often get them to order in stuff, but that is usually stuff that is floating around somewhere in Japan. I've never asked for something to be brought in from overseas. It's a good idea though, I'll give it a go.
