No need to sterotype reddenwhites, sure there is some undesirables in the SCS (ALL clubs have them) but people like Begbie do a fantastic job organising scenes that is pictured below.

Try walking past them in your teams colours 25 sec before the end on a game that they are about to lose  going to the footy for 20yrs and never been threatened, abused and rubbish thrown at us by anyone but the some members of the Sturt Cheer Squad .Yes its a generalization but walking briskly and exitedly with my 9yr old nephew to get to the players race to clap the team off was our sin and I was disgusted.Yes some members may work hard but if you are going to involve yourself with dirtbags then you will get a reputation with your lowest common denominator I'm afraid. No apologies !
Some people refuse to go to certain games because of incidents in the past etc and my experience with this mob will live with me for a long time . I will add not a word was said to instigate any friction. Walked past the Centrals end to enders 100 times without the slightest problem anytime . The SCS can have as many streamers as they want its who is shaking them that I am more interested in.

Fair enough Redden, no one should have to tolerate that crap.
I've walked past the beer shed at the sthn end of Prospect after Sturt has thumped North a few years ago with a couple of mates, and some girls we met, and had half empty cups of beer thrown at us, we laughed it off and went on our way.
These girls were only early/mid 20's and just out to see a game of footy and singing the club song while leaving and they get treated like that? What sort of wankers throw beer at women?
The SANFL have been trying to sort this crap out, but the problem isn't cheer squads, it's idiots in the crowd.

This year they are though aren't they ? If they do that I'd assume the Groggys will build a plastic cup monument every game....

I had a half-full can of beer thrown at me a few years ago by the Groggies (or someone standing with them). Funnily enough though, he wasn't so tough when we crossed paths again after the game walking down Menzies Cr without his entourage.

A tired old subject, which gets raised every year, but I actually agree with a North supporter (!!)

The Sturt "cheer squad" are an embarrassment to football, and EASILY the feralist (if thats a word) of all the teams.

Not for one SECOND suggesting that they represent the majority of Sturt fans, its just that there are 4 or 5 hard core lunatics in the Sturt "cheer squad" who should be banned from attending SANFL games for life.

Yes, all clubs have undesirables

My summary of teh other teams..

Bays Cheer squad - Craig the flag boy does a good job and keeps the hill entertained every week. Would not or could not hurt a fly..
Groggies - Brave on here, top blokes face to face at a game. Great for the SANFL.
WWT - the two blokes are very loud but generally harmless. I think I know where the Donuts went.
Norwood - excellent flag wavers. Always seem grumpy and not enjoying themselves, but are harmless. Big flags.
West - I think Sarge has to work some weekends. Not sure why they kick the fence all day.
South - I was surprised how much noise there small but passionate bunch of flag wavers can make (the ones on the opposite side to the grand sit). Good on them, but a touch "fruity" sometimes, esp. as they sit next to the jumping castle
Centrals-I've never seen an incident, so from my experiences are absolutely fine. The chants are awesome when they all go up. But i honestly don't get the Union Jack waving.
Port - while a bit of dentistry would not go astray, the true supporters @ Ethelton must be admired. Haven't seen any rubbish for years. See Centrals but with no colour.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Certainly I agree that every club has its bad element - however large or small it may be - it's still there.

I'll also agree with RB though about the 4 or 5 hardcores in the Sturt Cheer Squad. Late in the season in 2006 between Sturt and Norwood, such was the level and intensity of abuse being thrown (by a couple of these hardcores), it's difficult to think that someone could be more angry than that without actually physically assaulting someone.

Wedgie, as I said, it was several years ago when North were just starting to get things together again, so if it was a can instead of a plastic cup then that would be the only thing that I've mistaken in what I posted. So I'll go on your wisdom and say that it was half full cans, which is even more reprehensible that half full cans should be thrown at a couple of girls or anyone for that matter.
From the 'nice story mate' bit, I take it that you think I'm talking crap, mate. Wedgie, it's fact, and for the short time I've been on this site I might have a jibe at a few punters but in the main I just want to talk about, and see what others think about footy, I don't make up stories to suit my own agendas or anyone elses, there's plenty that do. I'm not having a dig at your club to stir up trouble, only relating an experience that I had concerning idiots in the crowd at a game, which was my point in the first place. Take it as you wish, I couldn't care.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_District_Bulldogs

Uniquely for an Australian Rules club, Centrals have a very strong British migrant identity and supporter base as Elizabeth was a centre of UK migrant settlements in South Australia. The colours and emblem of the club also reflect this rich British background. The colours were adopted from a UK soccer side depicted on a souvenir card however the exact identity of which club inspired the colours has not been revealed. To this day, Union Jack Flags and UK soccer shirts remain the attire of choice for many Centrals fans at SANFL matches. The colours were also influenced by Footscray in the VFL, the new club's inaugural patron, and the same Bulldog emblem was adopted for its working class connotations.

With this British background, Centrals fans also have a reputation for singing and chanting in the manner of UK soccer supporters. The chant 'Ceeeeeeeeeenntttrrrrraaaaaaaaaaalllllllllssssss' is the most well known supporter chants/songs in South Australian football

Footscray also donated the first set of guernseys the club owned, helped settle the choice on club colours I would imagine.

Nah I was there, he's spot on, in fact it wasn't cups, it wasn't cans, it wasn't even bottles, I saw the Grog Squad throwing grenades at these poor Sturt girls. God knows how they got out but they did, only pure luck though.
