Jimmy Deane's 80th birthday roast

Postby Scoop » Mon Feb 11, 2008 2:31 pm

One of the Panthers' greatest players, Jimmy Deane, turns 80 this year and the club are holding a function to roast the dual Magarey Medallist and six-time Knuckey Cup winner.

Tickets are $32 for a two-course meal (purchase own drinks from the bar) and will include, no doubt, a great night of footy anecdotes from his teammates, coaches, opponents and Jimmy himself.

Call the club on 8186 8200 or Maxine McPherson on 0412 065 387 to book. Details below.

Fantastic to hear.

I never saw him play but he's a fantastic person and a credit to all footballers.

When does he turn 80?

Thank you.

Congratulations to Jim on his 80th. A true gentleman of the game.

South fans get along - these nights are great - we had a terrific night for Bob Hank - Jim Deane attended - was great to see the 2 foes together.

One of the true greats of the sanfl. Like many others I never saw him play but 2 magareys and r/up 3 times speaks for itself. Was terrific on the radio as well. He still rarely misses a South game these days.
