SANFL talent goes un-noticed at the NAB AFL Draft

SANFL clubs should be restricted to adding two players outside of their club zone each year - that includes interstate & intrastate clubs and watch how soon that would make a difference. That is why the WAFL is fast becoming the AFL breeding ground because geographically they find it difficult to attract has-been AFL players to play WAFL so they have to develop and play juniors. It is too easy for the rich SANFL clubs (eg CDFC, WAFC, NAFC & SAFC) to get "ready-made" imports rather than play juniors from their grades on an early and regular basis.

Makes sense to me. Buy recycled players, don't develop the local talent, nobody to draft.

All of the above mentioned clubs have introduced plenty of juniors to Senior football and in West's case they have been hit hard by the AFL in recent years. Do you suggest they just develop juniors for the chance to play one year if they are lucky before being taken way into the draft. The reality is that SANFL clubs have to recruit "recycled" players to keep a reasonable base of experience at a club whilst at the same time developing players.

Bring in a under 18 comp and promote the comp
lead up games before crows and power, maybe double header u18s days and advertise, have zone games Southern v Northern or East v West.
Current U/19 & U17 comp boring - no-one but parents go and most kids stay at local clubs with more atmosphere
SANFL owe under age kids more of a chance to improve at a better standard of training and competition etc and get exposed
Hopefully this draft is a wake up call

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but I wouldn't be too unhappy if none of Norths players got drafted.

Would be happy to keep Cubillo, White, Motlop at Prossie along with Gallman, Delvins etc.
IMHO the draft onlt weakens the SANFL and I am more interested in a strong State league than a strong AFL.
