B&F Awards

Postby redden whites » Mon Oct 22, 2007 5:23 pm

With the Centals,Sturt(i think),Glenelg winners all in their first season and James Allan already with the Magarey Medal in the bag do we all have an over inflated opinion of the standard of the SANFL?
Coming to a new enviroment ,settling in,learning new team mates games and coaches thoughts and still take out the B&F is a massive effort you would imagine .

Here's a very over used quote "we(insert club here) are interested in guys who are quality people as well as good players" gees, if i hear that again this off season i'm gonna be sick.

McGuiness from Legs too??

Thought about this too during the season r+w, but I think its just this year is one of those years when all clubs have managed to get quality players. Perhaps as a result of the strong AFL draft last year??

LBT,
I think Central have now proven year after year the character of the person is just as important as the ability of the player. You can have all the skill in the world but if you are just playing for yourself you are no good to the team.

In my opinion team harmony is a very underated attribute to successful teams.

Not just your opinion whufc I think most people would agree that team harmoney is crucial in success.

Whilst I wont pretend we have been successful as Centrals, Glenelg made a conscious decision to move on some d!ckheads who despite being in the top 5 players in the club in 2005 were having a negative influence. Our relative success over the past few years has shown that to be a jsutifiable decision....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

No doubt, but i think it has crept into footy as one of those over-used quotes like "one week at a time" "wont be underestemating them" et al.

Totally agree LBT,

A classic example of this was Josh Coulter and Central and the affect he was having over the young players. The club moved him on (Josh did want a move though) and i think they can be satisfied they made the right decision. He was infulential in the incident which saw both him and Luke Ivens suspended for a game, and some of his on field blow-up vs Eagles, in particular Passador this year were embarrasing.

Ill add if Glenelg have taken the attitude to move d%*# heads out the club they will be on the rise very very soon with the talent they do have.

James Gallagher winning the B&F for the Legs is abit of a surprise, with the fancied Kieran McGuiness finishing as runner up and Nick Lower coming in third.

Yes, probably

We also probably don't like to add up just how many of our best players come from other comps

Still, the standard of SANFL is higher than people who don't go to games would think IMO
In between signatures .....
