Sturt looked pretty good for most of today.

Good midfield depth with Lewis to come back in.

Where to now for the Panthers? Some good looking kids but not a lot of depth.

A pretty tough watch from a South perspective. Just 25 inside 50s to Sturt's 59 summed up the contest really. South's mids got plenty of the footy in a statistical sense, but weren't damaging with it. Dearly missed Skinner and Clavarino down back. South have a dip but it's obviously going to be a long winter..

Max Clifton, Jake Arundell, Oliver Davis, Eamon Wilkinson, Nicholas Schroder named best for the hosts.

On the plus side the weather was great and it was a good crowd. Lots of Rodd and Gunn, Ralph Lauren and Country Road on display.

A decent crowd watching a match played in perfect conditions. Noarlunga might lack a certain charm but it does have a few features in its favour.
South have some seriously good young players but it would have to be said they are up against it with very little senior support around them. Have to grin and bear while they get games into the kids and get a shorter injury list.
Sturt got to 100 points which is a rare feat and something they have to repeat if they are to compete again with the top tier sides. But on paper Sturt are no worse than last year in fact are probably better placed.

I am at a loss to explain why we didn't bring in at least 2 or 3 experienced players to support the young kids.

We surely can't be paying the whole salary cap which basically means we gave up on this season before it started.

I fear we will cop a lot of floggings this year and that won't help with young players development or their desire to hang around for a long time.

If you're playing a heap of juniors, you're paying the bare minimum. Think there's limits on how much a player can be played in the SANFL, too, so you'd have so much cap space it's not funny. Which makes you wonder how much Zac Sproule is on at Porties...

Good post and agree. These kids need some experience around them and leadership.

It’s not good for their development or confidence. We will definitely get some floggings.

I don’t understand how we lost Broadbent, Sproule, O’Neill, Rose, Haines, Brooksby, Gibbs, Ramsay and basically got not much at all in the recruiting department.

Just seems to be a development squad.
