U19 Elimination Final Glenelg v West Adelaide

Postby scott » Mon Sep 10, 2007 5:09 pm

This match will be played at Woodville Oval on Saturday at 2:00pm.

Glenelg finished the Under 19s season in fourth place and a 12-8 analysis, winning six of their past last games, and those six were by an incredible average of 68 points. West Adelaide ended the season in fifth with a 10-10 record and a positive percentage, but were dealt a blow in their final minor round clash when they were sensationally thumped by top-placed Port by 120 points.

Glenelg leads the head-to-head record over West 2-1 this season, including a near 15-goal win at Glenelg Oval a month ago.

In the first half of the season, many of our under 19 players were called up to play Reserves and hence our results suffered, but in the second half of the season our whole club has benefited from some amazing depth and lack of injuries to senior players, meaning that our Under 19s team has quite a few players who have had some taste of Reserves Football.

We even got close to beating Port a few weeks ago, so it will be disappointing if the side doesn't go deep into the finals.

In our last U/19s flag (1992) we had one bloke who had played league footy in 1991, playing 19s in 1992 and over half the side had 2s experience.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Does that mean half our league team can play 19s this week?

Or do they have to wait a week because they played league/ressies the week before???
Never argue with an idiot, those watching may not be able to tell the difference

Within the SANFL they have rule (IIRC - it may have changed in the last 10 years) that once you play a certain number of games in the grade(s) above they can't come back for finals unless the grade(s) above are in the finals.

In 1992 we had this problem with Craig McRae, once he had palyed 14 games of 2s footy he couldn't come back to the 19s.

So if your players who are U/19 have played 14 or more games in the 2s or 1s they can not come back down to the 19s, as I understand the rule.
