yeah, I've never been able to work Doug out, I was a trainer for the state team in 94 ( v WA) and Doug was a selector, he was really nice and personable compared to some of the other big wigs who though their excretement didn't have an odour. B Robran was an exception. So I came away thinking, Dougs not too bad, Westies have got a good bloke there.

Fast forward five years, I've been torpedoed by the Bays, I'm working at Sturt, it two rounds to go and it is Westies vs Sturt, with the winner to make the finals basically. By the 20 min mark of the last quarter we have the game sown up and I look over to Westies officals at the back of the Members stand at Adelaide Oval and i could swear I saw Doug smiling like he didn't really care. I think that was when Borchard was coaching West (I'll stand corrected) and Dougs reaction appeared to be as if he was thinking, "Good we haven't made the finals now I can get rid of this bloke...."

Not to say that is what he was thinking but that is how it looked.....

Strange to the un-initiated with the Westies way.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
