Re: AFL Round 19 - I pity the fool

So based upon the crows second halves recently, anything less than a 10 goal win to the blues from here is a failure?! ;)

Re: Adelaide Crows 2019

That, and in years past we have gotten away with poor leg speed with quick ball movement. Now we don't have either and the forwards are all starved as the oppo gets numbers back.

It was no coincidence that Eddie and JJ got so many goals 10-20m out. They had the opportunity as the ball came in that quickly and deep they got separation from the one on one.

Big changes needed.

Re: Port Adelaide 2019

Its no great secret and even Port people understand their position, rightly or wrongly they decided to use surplus funds to beef up their footy department which would in turn increase performance which would increase attendence/memberships/sponsorships and THEN they would be able to reduce debt.

However there was a cliff coming if the above didn't succeed and that is where they are now, poor performance on and off field and large debt.

Im just very surprised that the footy media have allowed them to get away with it, with very little reporting about their financial situation, perhaps presuming wrongly it was all ok. Even stranger when you have a so called financial wizz as your President.

KT must be drafting his resignation letter surely, they need new direction IMO.

But I thought Adelaide Oval and China were a goldmine LMA ??? :-)

Re: Port Adelaide 2019

Port fans are conveniently ignoring UK’s point about this.
Of course the AO upgrade has been great for the state but it hasn’t been the saviour either on field or off field that the footy club thought it would be.
They’re still not playing finals and they’re again in financial strife.

He does have a valid point.

Re: Port Adelaide 2019

Everyone is missing UK’s point about this...it hasn’t been the saviour either on field or off field that the footy club thought it would be.

Is that his point though?

For mine, he's complaining about state government expenditure, not the onfield success of Port Adelaide:

5 years after spending $600 mill of tax payers money on Adelaide Oval we are back to where we started with a broke PAFC.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love the PAFC to be doing better than it currently is, but if his point is that the move to the oval was meant to improve the club, I don't understand why he keeps including the price of the oval redevelopment in his comments.

He's complaining about the state government expenditure coupled with the on going plight of the PAFC's finances because he thinks one was spent to fix the other. He actually thinks the AO Redevelopment was initiated and completed to save the PAFC .

Surely that was a major objective though (at least from PAFC's perspective).

If not, why were they pushing so hard to get there, set up a better stadium deal etc.

According to some nuffties it wouldn't have even happened if PAFC hadnt been driving the change?!

So if its not delivering the right numbers on the balance sheet after such a short time (particularly when it seemed to for the first couple of years), surely thats a legitimate cause for concern and not just deflection :-?

It's going to become pretty expensive if the novelty keeps wearing off new things for the Power fans this quickly ;)

Ken is locked and loaded for 2020. Finals or bust. Might get mentioned a few times between now and the end of 2020...
Don't go making our thread miserable please, maybe Pyke and Kenny can go on a fishing charter together.

Would be a disaster of a fishing trip.

Pykey would just keep throwing his line in the same spot, with the same bait over and over and wondering why the results weren't good.

Ken would catch a triple header with one cast and then get the hook caught in his eye and tumbler over board with the next, only to recover and catch other triple header next cast.

Players in the AFL era to play at least 20 games in their debut season and average at least 15 disposals and 1.3 goals per game :
1991 John Klug ( 25 years old )
1991 Darren Jarman ( 24 )
2019 Connor Rozee ( 19 )

Bloody hell, i knew he was good, but i didn't know he was 'Johnny Klug good!'

Re: Port Adelaide 2019

You gave and are giving up big coin for them...

Coin that was going to Brendon Ah Chee, Logan Austin, Jarman Impey, Matthew Lobbe, Jackson Trengove and Aaron Young. Like I said Impey was the main loss. Remember Port were lauded by the experts for that trade period. It hasn't worked out, that's just the way it goes sometimes. We got it right the following year in the draft and when Rockliff and co move on in a few years we will be in a good position to retain our draftees from last year.

Hombsch, O'Shea, Neade, Eddy....

So you're saying that you swapped 10 average, cheaper players for 3 average expensive players? :-?

Re: Glenelg V Port Grand Final

If he said "7 players with AFL experience" would your lacy smalls still be all twisted up?

Possibly, but we'll never know as thats not what he said.

I hope Kochy also thinks its bitter sweet when good old Sturt boys like Lienert and Trengove play for Port against Sturt?

But I'm sure he'll feel for a good old Bays boy in Tobin Cox playing against his old team this week.

I think you and I both know it's what he meant.

Agreed

And i think you and I both know that he sounds a bit like a condescending twat when he tries to paint the story that the Port Maggies are hard done by. ;)

Bang average list with barely any A Grade star power and apparently players leaving the sinking ship left, right and centre.

I would love to see them to get a first year coach who will be on a hiding to nothing and get eaten alive by the Adelaide football public who have the most sheltered view of their club in the nation.

It's going to be fun.
