Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Yes it is sad. No its not. The vast majority of Port fans are pretty happy where the club is at. Playing on the national stage. Tens of thousands of members, tens of thousands attend game days, multi million dollar sponsorships etc

There are plenty of Magpie folk who do not attend anymore because they do not want to see these AFL body snatchers dancing around in the skin of the club that they have loved all their lives, and they really had no way to avoid the situation. No there isn't. Very few of these types remain.

Yeah there is!
I know plenty of people who no longer support Port Adelaide in any form due to the 'one club' setup.
I'm one of them and I know plenty others.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Looks like Summerton will be an out this week with 22 Power players available for Port in their 23 named squad.

It also begs the question what does the 22nd Power player do... no room at the Magpies league, not allowed to play SANFL reserves I am pretty sure.

Then again it could be a counting issue Jimmy Toumpas is named twice in forward pocket and centre half forward.

http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/2017-05-18/selection-round-9-port

If nothing else I guess it proves why Port had to lose their zone.

No point investing money developing local talent to SANFL league level if there are just a few or even no league spots actually available.

Someone will be 'injured' between then and now.
Summerton will play.

This week I made Goldy my captain as danger has been down and Goldy has Melbourne with no Gawn. I also put Vardy in the ruck replacing Boyd.

Danger is ranked 1 with about 80 points and Boyd 2 with around 50

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Nothing ridiculous about it. The Power Reserves' purpose is to give all their AFL-listed players a run/match fitness. They only need non-AFL listed players when they can't fill a side with them.

My ridiculous comment was more in regards to the rules.
The fact that they have to play AFL listed players first is absurd.
Players should always be picked on merit first and foremost, but that is the rules the 'One Club' signed up to so they now have to abide by them.

Summerton is one of the few blokes who actually cares about the club and the results on the day.

Re: I need to know....

why is it, seemingly only with old people, and it seems to be becoming more frequent, that people walk down the road instead of on the footpath? and then give you a dirty look as they have had to move over when you drive past them? theres two frigging footpaths ffs. even had ne bloke in pitch dark and dark clothing the other night doing it.

seriously, if they were just suicidal i could understand, but no on a suburban 50k road
I asked a woman one day who was doing this. She said the footpath was too uneven and she had previously fallen numerous times. The road was more smoother and true to walk on.

I'm glad it's smoother coz when she gets run over it'll need to be. ;)

Footpaths are called this for a reason.

Re: USED CAR PROTECTION

You shouldn't really name and shame if it was an honest mistake, or could it have happened since the car was bought?

How quickly does a cracked head kill the car? Is it instantly f**ked?

That's possible as some dealers barely wash the cars that are traded in before putting them on the market let alone checking them mechanically.

What I mean is, could the head have cracked within the four weeks after purchase? And could you drive a car for four weeks with a cracked head?

I dont know shit. I'm just asking.

Re: AFL Round 10

Stupid part of the rule is that if he had taken one step forward it wouldn't have been play on, if he wasn;t watching the shot clock why wasn;t his team mates?

Exactly.

Should just scrap the 30 second shit and give them the same time as players in general play.
you never know, players having less time to think about would probably increase goalkicking accuracy.

Would take the pressure off the umpires who have to determine in a few seconds whether the player is within range to have a genuine shot at goal.

Turn it up. The rule is in place to stop players taking so much time to kick at goal. Don't blame the rule cause Charlie is a stupid prick who can't look up at the shot clock like every other player does

In fairness to big Charles, I don't think he can count past 10 anyway!

How long do hawthorn keep going with Gibson?
Seen the hawks a few times this year and he's a deadset liability.
Hardly set the world on fire last year.

Solid defender, if overrated, when they were going well . But he's just filling the space a kid could be playing now.

Seriously you have NFI, 2 B&F's in premiership seasons.
Does need the tap on the shoulder now, ill give you that

He's playing as the main defender and giving up 6 inches to Dixon.
As the 3rd defender he's as good as any.

Probably should have finished when his mates left at end of last year.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

It is a sign of my respect for the Magpies and those supporters that have been alienated by the Power's take over that I do not forget that they are probably suffering more than I.
But hey, you speak for ALL Port supporters and I obviously have no idea about human nature whatsoever, as there is only one type of Port supporter. YOU, right?

I would suggest I'm more reflective of the average Port Adelaide fan than morrel, for instance. Morrel is, for mine, a little more "right wing" in terms of his thoughts on the matter. Not many Port people I know are as definitive in their thoughts as he is. His call.

I've posted numerous times the loss I've felt since the Magpies became our AFL players SANFL base, only posted some weeks ago that my "We exist to win premierships" shirt is no longer true, it hurts, but it's the price we have paid to be on the national stage. From Alberton to the world. That's not something new to my posting on the matter.

So, yes, those of us who feel that way are indeed suffering more than you, however, many of us choose to feel good about the AFL side, the Adelaide Oval in full flight, China etc etc than sit and reflect, morosely, about what might have been. What it is, is what it is.

I think you'll also find many of the Magpies who felt truly alienated ( many of them Magpies players from the 80's/90's ) are coming around to the feeling of the unified club. It's either that or, in my view, be a piss weak supporter and just walk away.

Each to their own Booney, but the easiest or the piss weak supporters support the Power.
Not all of course but some are just sheep who followed!

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

A touch off topic, but can I get a Port's fans view on Jackson Trengrove. He has been played out of position (IMO) for a number of seasons now, having to cover first for Ryder in the ruck last year, now as a tall option up forward. He is clearly a key defender, but has he been a victim of a lack of creativity in his game, in a time when defensive creativity has never been more prominent? I liken him to Talia at the club I support across town, a lock down defender who at times would rather worry about his man than the teams best interests, and until this year was really lacking in rebound creativity. He has worked on it, and by no means is he a polished ball user but he marks the ball more and uses it within his means now. Is that something Jackson could/should be doing or am I missing it? I had this discussion with the missus Saturday night because she was my only company watching the game and her answer didn't quite hit the mark so I thought I would turn to this thread..
I want to know why he was persisted with up forward while the Port backline continued to be under the pump Saturday night.. Surely he could've gone to Hooker early in the game and curbed his influence.

He's a defender every day of the week.
He should start and finish there.

If you're a key forward I reckon you'd rather stand Jonas or Clurey then have Big Jacko come to you.

Re: AFL round 13

Suns offer nothing to the comp, irrelevant pissant of a club. No crowds, all the draft picks and concessions in the world and half of them jog around like they couldn't give a toss. They will forever be sucking on the AFL's teet and will never be able to stand on their own feet. Pack them up and ship them to Tassie before it's too late
When it came to the clutch they were pathetic last night, I tipped them with a bit of confidence and watched most of the game, should be winning games like that at home. They play very much a 'bruise free' style of footy and that's not going to get them anywhere, they need to get some c**t about them or something. Carlton simply wanted it more last night.

Gibbs was outstanding, a footballer can't have more of a complete game like he did last night.

He is obviously enjoying footy this year so it will be interesting to see if he tries to return to SA at the end of the year.

Nah with his current form we'll ask the Crows for 3 first rounders now

Port played the Bulldogs on a Satdee arvo in 2016 - 40k

The difference? Not form, Port played much better in '14 obviously. Weather was ok for both.

It was that in 2016 that week was a bye for most local footy comps...

Yeah it's obvious you will get more to a Saturday arvo/night game when no local footy is on but what's the answer?
Local footy is here to stay so you can't use that as an excuse each week.
