Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

I get it in a bunion on one foot, so the knuckle of my big toe.

It’s a very sharp pain through the middle of that joint rather than a dull ache. Walking is unbearable and even resting the foot on that side hurts. Believe me, you know when you have it.

Without preventative medication or treatment at early onset, the pain can last for days.

The worst was about 2 weeks the first time I got it. My wife told me I had gout, but I resisted going to see the doc. When I finally booked an appt, I was hobbling into his room and he said straight away without any further assessment, you’ve got gout. Because I left it so long it took a while for the medication to kick in.

In my case, early treatment stops a full onset, so I’ve learn’t to manage it these days. It’s caused by uric acid crystalising in a joint, so my doc advised to take aspirin whenever I start feeling it as it’s a blood thinner and helps. Some people can’t take aspirin as it can cause bleeding issues elsewhere, but for me it’s fine.

Re: Australian International Summer 2023/24

India effectively run world cricket, so unless it’s in their financial interest it’s not going to fly.

Until the ICC grows some balls (ain’t going to happen), expect more of the same.

It’s a clusterf*ark, but take Adderton’s comments with a large dose of salt … he’s an A-Grade f*ckwit.

As you say, it looks like Coke has now bailed, so Betty probably has to bite the bullet and deal with the source of the problem, Barry Ryan.

Re: TDK's International Test Cricket Update's

Bazball failed

Has rooted Root’s batting. Maybe the way he played today was because of his finger injury and playing normally may of hampered him too much? But him playing in the aggressive Bazball style actually annoys me in a way, he's already that good surely he doesn't need to change the way he plays and play the ridiculous shots?

Agreed. It’s stupid and irresponsible.

He’s done it too many times now to forgive the behaviour. Today he premeditated reverse sweeps on his 1st and 3rd balls, and his dismissal was another premeditated suicide run down the wicket. As you say, he’s better than that.

If he wants be part of Bazball, then he should look at Stokes, who can start steadily then explode when the situation demands it, rather than going full ballistic from the 1st ball.

I think he should go back to what made him a very good player, but what would I know?

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

My shit gives me the shits.

This morning I attempted to collect a stool sample for the bowel cancer screening kit which periodically appears in the letterbox of us old farts. For you youngsters out there, this involves putting a sheet of paper (supplied in the kit) in the dunny bowl, crapping on it, then rubbing a stick (also supplied) on the turd before the lot is flushed.

So - I unfold the paper catcher and place it in the bowl. Drop strides, assume position, open the bomb bay doors and drop a load. Turn around with collection stick in hand - and find that my turd has punched a hole through the paper and dropped straight into the swimming pool.

Sigh.

Now you have to wait 2 years to try again.

Re: Current state of Supercars

Interesting interview with Betty and Ryan on Fox

wouldnt talk about the Brodie situation as they cant, used privacy in respect for him

Certainly wont be coming back you would think

She has backed him 100%, so there’s no chance of Barry Ryan leaving or being forced out of Erebus. Can’t believe that they’re claiming it’s not in their hands to solve … they can release Brodie from his contract and everyone gets on with their lives.

Got to be up there as one of the worst batting line ups for a supposed no.1 Test team.

When this team starts failing, which it will, it will be a hard thud.

That’s what happens when the chairman of selectors admits to only looking one or two Tests ahead.

Will still win easily but that just extends the fallacy for longer.
