Re: Tippett + Buddy = No flag

Tippett yes, Buddy no.

Buddy has had an awesome year, even by his own lofty standards.

Today he was in the Swans best 3, and that's after massive attention by the Hawks defenders.

He's also a consistent big game player.

Tippett is none of the above and just a very highly paid downhill skier.

Agree on the respect side, I suspect the Swans have lost that moral superiority they had always claimed on that front.

Re: SANFL 1945-1990

This has to be one of the biggest misnomers in SANFL folklore ... that Norwood were 'robbed' in the match.

Norwood were NEVER, repeat NEVER going to win this match, regardless of the wind change.

You conveniently forgot to mention that it absolutely pissed down most of the match, greatly negating the 'advantage' of the wind.

Yes, I was there.

Re: Sydney Swans 2014

I don't think the issue is that the AFL are phasing out the COLA for the Swans.

REB is right in that the Swans were too smart with the Buddy deal. Good on them but the AFL had no choice but to act.

For me the issue is that the AFL haven't given the Swans sufficient notice ... they've effectively slammed the door which means the Swans couldn't plan for the change.

Some may say this is just karma but remember that they played within the rules that the AFL set.

Re: Sanderson sacked

Heard some fresh rumours from someone who has a connection with a crows staffer.

When Richard Douglas and Sando were both on the bench together during a game sando asked Richie how long he had left on his contract, Richie responded "a year and a half" and sando responded "we should move to Melbourne where all the action happens.

He was caught sleeping with an admin chick whilst his wife was pregnant

Re: End of season movements. FA, trades, bullshit etc.

#6 and Griffen for Boyd? Dogs got screwed.

They were desperate for someone to kick to, now they have to get him on the park.

Plus, they might have been happy to get rid of Griffen???

My thoughts too. Griffen wants out, get him out. Boyd for pick 6 is reasonable- gives the Dogs a target which they have been severely lacking, since Hall.

Boyd develops and the Dogs are laughing- Griffen was not going to be a part of their next flag .

Neither will Boyd unless he lives to 150 ...

Re: The South Australian Political Landscape

Just looking through the list of current Liberal MPs, shit there's not much talent there.

Their new leader surely has to come from outside the party, of the existing mob, possibly the only one with any hope is Dan van Holst Pellekaan, possibly John Gardner, can't see Cory Wingard going all the way.

Lucas, Chapman, Ridgway, Pisoni, Griffiths, McFetridge, Willams, Redmond and Stephens should join Evans and give it away.

Re: Things that you rate!

My 2c is that I wouldn't do that either.

Either don't say a word and stay where you are, or make up your mind to move and resign.

Once you entertain moving, even if framed in the most appropriate way, it can or may lead to irreparable damage to your relationship with that employer. This is not always true but I wouldn't take the risk if there was any thought of staying.

Loved the bit where Obama was sitting next to Abbott, chewing away looking across and seemingly thinking, what a faarking clown.

He has learned the hard way that 3 word slogans don't work with world leaders.

Abbott has now a consolidated himself as Australia's answer to George W.

Re: Abbott/Liberal Govt Watch

I hate to be the Grinch but that's just not correct. Governments operate very differently from businesses or you and me. They have this 'special' ability to raise funds via bonds, which is essentially and effectively unlimited. Together with a very strong and regulated financial system (i.e. the Reserve Bank) Australia doesn't really have much to worry about.

Yes it's true that there needs to be the income, but generally that's not a problem and again because of Australia's strong financial and regulatory environment, it's sort of a licence to print money.

So really any discussion about debt is a political or religious one if you like ... the Tories (yes, that the Liberals) are fiscal ultra-right wing conservatives, whilst the left (you guessed it, Labor) are much more liberal when it comes to spending money.

What does this all mean?

Psyber, get your hand off it ... the debt fear mongering that is!

That is all!
