Re: CH9AFL Division 5, 2016

I know this is a seniors board but just want to say thanks to Rosewater for hosting the Under13 carnival today, they were a fantastic bunch of people who made us all feel welcome. Great club rooms, great people, cold beer at the end of the day and a well run day.

Cheers

Re: Biggest Premiership Hangovers - West 2015/16

Not a hangover, more like a holocaust at the moment. So many players injured after Christmas, poor recruiting and behind the scenes people's head so big that new doorways have needed to be built in the club. Will get on track, and I have said it from pre season, after about round 6 we will come good. Only a couple of games out of the five.

Must say recruiting was difficult when we didn't know how many players would be drafted, a lot of the better players available had signed or were way down the track of signing

He clearly isn't match fit. Would be playing SANFL if danger was here.

Crouchx2 Sloane Thompson are our inside mids. There isn't really room for another one, otherwise Lyons would be playing (who went well when he played)

Wouldn't surprise me if crouch has a week off soon just to manage his comeback

Re: Amateur League Looking at taking over Junior Football

Four weeks into the new comp and I must say the level of umpiring has been outstanding IMO, yesterday we played Unley in a very physical and tough game and the umpiring was first rate. All 4 weeks so far have been well umpired. far better than previous years.

For anyone who has an afternoon spare, take the time to go and see an Unley Jets under 13 game (lucky I only have to see them twice this year). They have a lad, number 35, who easily would be the best junior player I have seen. Does everything. Yesterday with a wet soggy ball, kicked 5 goals as a midfielder and was roosting the ball a good 50m. Almost has the size and body shape to play SANFL already and he is only 12.Best of all though he seemed a really nice kid, often patting our kids, the opposition, on the back and saying well done. Our kids are small but their effort was first rate and I think he appreciated the challenge. He could have been the "hero" and really hurt a couple of our smaller kids but showed be was better than that, IMO deserves to be recognized for his sportsmanship.

Re: Amateur League Looking at taking over Junior Football

Just my opinion but if a college bans a player for three weeks it must be something reasonably serious therefore the club should respect that decision and not play him no matter how important he is to the team. If the club plays him it doesn't teach him a thing

Re: Womens Teams Announced

Total waste of time and money.

Funds would be fair better used saving grassroots clubs and grassroots competitions, where plenty of Comps are currently on there knees.
Whilst I agree with the sentiment of this comment, too many grassroots clubs would spend money on buying a premiership rather than using it for its intention
Although what Zartan said is right, unfortunately the AFL is a business and it now doesn't give a rats tossbag about the Grassroots level I would like to see some of the money being poured into Womens Football being spent on upgrading/redeveloping Grassroots clubs facilities instead of giving it straight to clubs where they can, as you say buy a premiership.

And the AFL have to look as far as the Glenelg Football Club to see a club on it's knees financially. If circumstances get really bad for the Bays I hope the AFL decide to help them. They simply cannot let a club that has successfully survived for 95 years and provided the AFL with many good footballers over the years (and this goes for any club that could find themselves in that position) wither away while pouring money into Womens football.
If the money was used only on facilities I would be 100% behind it especially as a lot of clubs are becoming more of family social clubs
