Hes an absolute joke ! How much afternoon tea does he want to scoff down before the race starts. Sky channel cross and theres a minutes silence because Jimmy is still running up the stairs and then when the race starts, he can hardly breath let alone call. Very Professional

GEE, Wouldn't it be great if we were all Perfect. Surely being a few seconds late now and then for some pre-race thoughts isn't a hanging offence. To say that Jims an "Absolute Joke" would have to be one of the most RIDICULOUS, UNDESERVING and FURTHEREST FROM THE TRUTH statements that i have read on this site.

Jackpot Jim, I agree that the term 'hes an absolute joke' was wrong but I was merely referring to the fact it has happened numerous times in the past and Im yet to notice Dan Meliecki, who I rate as the best, ever suffer the same problem.

Jimmy is a good caller (not great like Dan the Man) but in all seriousness he calls 3 trots and 1 or 2 dogs meetings a week.. all people ask is that he calls the race...
I don't care if he is there pre-race, but when he gets there 3 seconds into the race and he can't call for the first lap - cause he's out of breath, that's when it's not on.... Jimmy gets paid to call races - that's what he should do and if he is so pre-occupied with gambling rather then calling, then maybe he should give the job to someone who wants it - like a Mark Lydemore, who does a good job and is on time all the time + doesn't bet when he's calling, so is not biased when calling a race....
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

give me a spell, jimmy out of breath has a HUNDRED YARDS on lydemore, even if you let lydemore sit in the box for 3 days before the first.

This comes from someone who wants Ron Papps back.. worst caller in the history of SA Racing.. never got a photo finish right.... never....
As a caller - I agree... but in professionalism - no way.. Mark is a much more professional presentor then Jimmy... at least he gets to call the races on time..

Jimmy Jaques
Without doubt the very very best trotting previewer Ive ever heard
Has an impeccable knowledge of harness racing
Selects may winners
Does his own markets
Terrific personality
Loves to predict outcomes in the run, thats entertaining
Puts everything into most calls, especially the last 100 metres
He is occasionally late getting back to the booth, usually because hes
chatting with the crowd and forgets the time.
Jimmy is a gentlemen and does not deserve any negativity on a chat room.

Mal - i don't agree with you on this one...
I've been at Gawler and Globe when Jimmy was too busy putting bets on and didn't get up stairs for the start of the race.. if it happened once or even twice, that's ok, but this is a regular thing now.... he gets paid to do a job and it's unacceptable that he be too busy betting to do his job... ffs get a tab account and bet on that...

Jimmy is a very good caller and an even better form analyst, but needs to get his priorities right - does he want to bet as they are scoring up to get the 'overs' or call races??? He can't do both...

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA? normally he bets then makes the overs by talking crap to all the idiots at home and in tabs, in that aspect, it'd be better if he just ran up to the box every time, it'd be better for the people that do their form.

I have a pretty good idea - after all you were going to back Our Connor Mac and Stephanies Handshake, so I obviously do my form - cause they were both huge risks at such a short quote..

Mal - I never said callers couldn't punt, point out where I said they couldn't punt, I just quite plain and simply said that Mark Lydemore doesn't and isn't biased in his calls & if Jimmy wants to bet then he should do so on a phone account just before the race or do it before they are about to score up...

I will say it again MAL - I believe Jimmy is a good caller (the best in SA) but i'm sure anyone else would get in trouble for being late to work, so what's the difference - this is his job isn't it?
