SANFL Clubs 2005 Financial Reports

Postby Wedgie » Thu Dec 08, 2005 8:15 pm

I'd be interested if people in the know could post their clubs profits/losses as they come to be known (usually in the Annual Report) perhaps with details of any circs that may have caused the result. Im always interested reading other clubs reports and comparing how different clubs do respectively in different areas.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard these figures so far:

Centrals $347,000 profit (confirmed)
North $278,000 profit (confirmed)
Eagles $277,188 (confirmed)
South $260,000 (confirmed)
West $110,000 profit
Glenelg $32,070 profit (confirmed)
Port $11,462 profit (confirmed)
Sturt $90,920 loss (confirmed)
Norwood $434,686 loss (confirmed)

Not sure about the Eags, but with 2000+ members and the Port Road Bistro, it should be a profit.

Central's would be $25K more had it not been for an insurance injury payout for the Footballers Club. I'm curious about that one.

North have announced a profit of $201,058, this is incredible considering what the fit out costs would have been for the Northern and Grand North as well as not trading at Sefton Park for a few weeks when the transition was happening.
North now has 4.6 million in assets.
Geezus we've come along way from being just about out in streets in 2003! Just goes to show you how quickly things can turn around.

I agree wedgie - the paper article didn't mention the cost set ups for Grand North only the refurb cost for the Tavern. I know the club were careful this year in what profit actually got put on paper - after last years $550K announcement (which would have been greater but for "creative" accounting) - a few clubs "whinged" etc about why we still need an equal SANFL dividend. Pays sometime not to show your full hand as is the case this year.

Wedgie, the fit-out costs are written off over several years. Still an impressive result, though.

drebin, I note your comments about the club being "careful this year in what profit actually got put on paper" and the previous year's profit which would have been greater but for "creative" accounting. This reassures all football followers that North would always do the right thing when it comes to salary cap matters. :)

I know this is an AFL topic, however I did hear that Port Power posted a $500,000 loss for the year.
They are blaming the fact that they have inducted a few people into their life members list.

Also that they had to pay out the remainder of M. Primus' contract. (I thought that he was now their "Ruck Coach")
So wouldn't that still leave him on the books ?? Is he being paid twice ?? That is a serious question that I would be asking if I were a member.

They have also changed a few of the lyrics in their club song too.

They also have enough cash to send 50+ blokes to Caloundra on a training camp, surely they can train adequately in SA. This is a complete waste of money or is this loss a case of creative accounting?

Do they supply the cocaine from their own coffers for their functions in SkyCity?

Sturt will be ok soon as the pokie setup is getting up some steam. Norwood really need that pokie setup to happen. Really need it. Hope that something good happens there.

North's combined profit (NAFC plus the 2 gaming operations) is overall $278K. Considering the huge outlays and refurb costs of both Grand North and the Northern it is a very good result. Next year could be staggering and should easily beat the combined massive $550K from last year - or at least be close depending on what is "written off" plus any extra payments to the debts.

Those gaming venues have put north in a pretty good financial position. Let us hope all Sanfl clubs can get something together.

Eagles club 2004 profit $144 678 - 2005 $137 957, down a bit, but at least it's a profit.
WWTFC inc 2004 profit $60 586 - 2005 $139 231, more than double the profit from the year before.
