Round 18 - West v Central Dist @ Richmond 2.10pm Sat 24 July

Postby GWW » Sun Jul 18, 2010 10:01 pm

In probably the match of the round, West Adelaide will be hoping to cause a big upset at home this week against flag favourties Central District.

The Bulldogs however will be hoping not to lose 2 away games in a row, and I'd expect them to win by around 28 points.

well with 11 wins we probably need 1 more maybe 2 wins to be sure of a top 3 spot.

Without Lobbe and Fergusson, will be a tough ask - I know CDFC has a lot of injuries, but you dont win premiership after premiership without a depth and that centrals have!

Scott Turner was saying to me at the West v South game that Lobbe should be right to go from his hammy issue after the bye.

Provided noone else gets injured, Not having a crack whufc or wishing ill upon the CDFC, just pointing out that at this time of the year or in finals it is very rare to have all first choice players avaiable not matter which club you are talking about. The footy gods have a way of making sure that never happens - all players available.

However it good to have them up your sleave to come back though.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think now we only have Schell, J Gowans and Richie to comeback. Richie would return via the Ressies I think. Unfortunately, Sully (a massive lost) may struggle to get back this year. Are there others?
The AFL listed players can't be relied on.

definatly cant rely on AFL players but realistically you would think we would get nash and henderson back and one of griffin or sutherland would be in our best 21.

If cochrane stays injury free from now he will be an absolute certainty to be in the league side before finals

Agreed, Griffen is an obvious starter if allowed to play. After last weekend, I think Sutherland may have to do a little more to be a starter. Hardy has given us a bit more flexibility. This may also be the case if we see Evil in August, freeing up Hardy.

The dogs have one of the shortest injury lists in the league because they don't put all the reserves players and all the guys with niggles down like some clubs. According to the injury list, Daniel Havelberg has been fit all year.

Our main problem this year has been, we get one injured player back, but add another one to the list. They seem to be tag teaming each other with the injuries!

This has probably also been one of the only years we have been affected heavily by AFL listed players coming in and out. Personally I am not relying on any of them coming back in the side come finals time. They are not our players so we should not rely on them to win a premiership.

This week is a real danger game for the Dogs. Like it was said before we loss to Westies around this time last year.

If everyone is fit from the weekend there wont be to many changes to the Dogs line up. I think Sutherland will be back in the side for either Reichart or Schiller. The other change i would make is i would bring in Hynes for Gunston. Currently Gunston is struggling to win the ball and is offering nothing when he doesn,t get the ball.

Must admit i really liked Schillers game on the weekend he wins alot of hardball and is really efficient with his use. The only problem is we have alot of these type players so feel he may be dropped this week.
