Good news about the square. Hope it comes up well.

Didn't TTG re-lay the square not that long ago? Or was that the outfield?

Is there any chance the footy club could leave a blade of grass on the oval?

Surely they have some responsibility to keep the oval in a decent condition. If the ground gets too heavy then they shouldn't be able to train on it. Games obviously you can't do much about but surely with training there is some flexibility. Explore some alternate training venues, utilise some indoor venues (every school his a wiz bang gym thanks to the education revolution) or at least spread their teams over a few more grounds rather than 35 football teams running up and down the cricket pitch 7 days a week for 6 months.

It's a shame because with the upgraded clubrooms and change rooms plus the #2 oval next door it could be one of the best venues in the competition. The verandah with the barbecue area is a great spot to watch cricket.

Yeah over the past 2 seasons they have relaid/plugged the square but the issue was drainage and square being flat against the ground.
This is full over haul of the square, raising it and installing drainage. Its already coming along and looks good.

To be fair to the footy club, this year they did a great job in protecting the oval, using Bulkana oval and banksia high school. The outfield was the best I have seen it coming out of footy season to cricket season. The relationships between the clubs are much better in recent years which has facilitated this.

On another note, TTGs BankSA side bowled out Woodville for 33 in 11.5 overs. They were 4/6 off 3 overs and 8/20 off 7 overs.

The Bank SA Carnival is going to be bit messy next week. With 41 degrees predicted most of week, may not be any games played. Top of the groups may be declared joint winners like TTG and Glenelg last year.

And the Under 17 State Carnival starts here next week too, wonder if they will play, or do Cricket Australia have different rules. Long way for teams to come to not play the whole first week!

Think SACA will look at a few 20/20s possibly on the Monday Tuesday then a GF Thursday? same thing happened last year, cant take a trick.

Id say the national carnival wouldnt be heated out due to the resources they have available to them.

Plan A is to start play 1 hour earlier I believe....

Saw a good ton by Charlie Holmes today for Kensington. Not out at the start and not out at the end.
Well batted.
Pity our mob bowled poorly.

Missed the final 13 in the U/17 state squad but as they say all you can do is keep performing.

Its amazing to see some lads reactions when they miss the final cut. They dont understand that they still often have 3-5 years of possible junior state represtation ahead of them.

Who are you with Beery?

TTG had a dissapointing loss yesty, had Sturt 7/110 and let them off the hook making 183 and we fell 16 runs short i think. Good to see young Zac Schwarz who just missed the State U15s take 4fa

If there is no play in the Bank SA Carnival next week (which is more than likely considering over 40 degrees), will Port and Country Black be declared Joint winners as they are top of their groups?

Doubt Port would have won for many years!!

That's a brilliant week of cricket from Port. Good to see. Have battled for a while in the juniors, forfeiting 16 Whites, very young U14 teams. Kartas and Umpherston look like good players. Saw them both bat last year. Assume they had a couple of country kids come over which is excellent. They probably don't see many country guys for the normal Saturday matches so great that they can come over for these carnivals. Makes the decision by grade clubs not to do the U14 carnival all the more stupid.

Even got told by a few who said they were there for Port's first match that they had a Victorian bowling for them who has never played for the club let alone some of their country players.

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure that to keep the table up to date that clubs have been asked to just get the result in asap then dot the Is and cross the Ts.
It's a bit annoying I agree.

Rest of the BankSA carnival has been cancelled due to heat. So I would say Port and and Country Black will be announced as joint winners.

Yeah played 20/20s today

TTG beat Port by 20odd runs - so that wash out v Southerns came back to bite us, also letting sturt off the hook in our loss .
