You played well FPB, you were like a lankier version of Wanganeen the rubber man, falling down and bouncing straight back up again! Great to watch! 8)

Congrats to the Writer in the Footy Budget who picked Lockleys to beat West Croydon. Better man than me in tipping that one. Thought West Croydon would win easily after last weeks effort. Made me look stupid, but that would not be hard

a great gameout at lockleys on saturday.good footy played with great desperation and in good spirits.one of the better umpiring displays i have seen at this level.the scores at the end didnt represent how close the game was for most of the day with it only being a goal the difference at about the 15minute mark.couple of observations:
west croydon scored every time they use the corridor, make it part of game plan
the hawks small fowards need to get out of the corridor and let the big boys have some room, they crowded them all day
lockleys ball movement is very good and clean but their use of the boundary lines will bring them undone down the line
lockleys midfield is by far the hardest working in the league, great display and smashed the hawks in clearances
we stand as one
we fight as one
we win and lose as one
we are one

Might have won the clearances, it does not men that they used the ball effectively. Perhaps the pressureon the ball carrier was good? More than 1 way to skin a cat
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Lockleys have beaten Kenilworth, CLG and West Croydon. That's a fair effort. Have they exposed a couple of these teams' lack of pace, run and carry?

Dee man was on the far side of the oval looking like the mafia and was an interested listener at the quarter breaks ;)
West Croydon peppered the goals in the 1st quarter without getting enough majors may have cost them the game perhaps in the long run, agree centre clearances are a big asset but also arent the be all and end all. Ask Richmond today smashed the Hawks in clearances but didnt win the game.

Yes ,was their and loved the game.good display of footy by both teams.
my thoughts on the clearances seems to raise a point with my more astute footy heads.
yes, when you win the clearances and contested footy it doesnt guarantee you the win but what it does give your team is the advantage of first use.
what you do with the footy, how you set up and how you monopilise your possession is another thing.
west croydon did get smashed in the clearances, which everyone their acknowledges, but they did a good job in putting pressure on the reciever and to be honest delivery and skill with the ball is an art form that few teams are getting better at and are giving the opposition a look in.
but i do accept all your points of view.
as for the mafia look,well............

Did Hope Valley have a bye? No seriouslly, thanks to the Dee Man & Demonseye for their unbiased appraisal of this week's "Match of the Round"

Unfortunatelly I was away with work and missed this important clash "Live". Although "The Plumber" kept me up to date on the "Dog & Bone" and he described much of the same. So, I found their summaries pretty well self explanatory, good job! Funny how some people just want to have a crack and criticise rather than just take it in and accept that some people know what they're talking about. ;)

We've seen that "The Hawks" are the real deal, allthough stumbling on Satdee against The Strong Running Deez and I am sure will bounce back featureing again in the next "Match of the Round" against CLG at Mortlock Pk. This will be a real test for both clubs. Surelly CLG will now be near full strength and I think we all know "The Hawks" will not be happy about Satdeez loss. Another clash of the Titans...

PS The Raiders v The Kookas will be another top clash up in the mountains. This is an entertaining comp! 8)

Could this finally be Lockleys year??

Good bunch of young blokes down there. Always just lacked a couple of key position players in previous years I thought. Their results thus far seem to show they are finally putting it all together.

Good luck for the rest of the year! :D

Still learning to keep their minds switched on for every minute of every game, hence the loss to "The Raiders". Credit to Houghton's never say die attitude.

Yes they are a great bunch, no huge recruits - just family, a couple of smart "country boys" introduced over the past year or two and the same bunch of Kids from our U18 Back to Back Premierships in '06 & '07, who are now Young Men. Not a bad blend, great foundation.

HOWEVER! Still need a lot of things to go right and still need a lot of hard work. Remember this side has finnished 5th the last 5 years, GOING OUT IN STRAIGHT SETS and that will not be accepted again.....so let's drag out the cliches and
1. Take it 1 week at a time!
2. Remember, it's a marathon not a sprint! etc etc etc -
3. Ohhh and your only as good as your next game
- I like that one! ;)

Whilst true, its a reasonably simple answer.

The best football I have seen us play since our solid Div 7 year was against eventual premier Hectorville at Hectorville. we were up by 4 goals at 3/4 quarter time and with a little bit more fitness would have in all likelihood knocked them off.

That team is as follows;

4 Dowsett, Adam - gone back to Happy Valley
24 Eblen, Peter - no idea, but gone

71 Ellingham, Morgan - torn ACL out for year, also secured lucrative male modelling contract
11 Emmerson, Matthew - retired

13 Gelven, Damien - playing
18 Hay, Adam - retired
12 Kulmer, Shane - retired

3 Leck, Joseph - playing
5 Logan, Steven - playing
6 Mahar, Michael - gone back to Happy Valley
16 Marchese, David - army duties

1 Mcdonnell, Luke - playing
9 Mcdonnell, Nathaniel - playing, under duress
15 Newton, Lukas - working Saturdays
14 Potuszynski, Troy - gone back to Happy Valley
21 Rowbottom, Leigh - moved to Victoria
8 Schutte, Ryan - Tailem Bend I think

2 Steele, Bradley - playing, sort of
17 Varnas, Casey - gone back to Happy Valley
20 Viscione, Reno - playing
7 Walsh, Andrew - semi-retired

+ Damien Bates - Murrayville
+ Craig Rivett - retired
+ Chris Rogers - retired

No excuses, we are no match for anyone in D6 at the moment. We need to rebuild under Colin and start again.

Oddly enough I think the club is heading in the right direction and I have the utmost faith in all the people involved in the club being able to turn things around.

I will say that the vast majority of the the players no longer playing for us would have no ill feelings towards the club nor the people involved in it. In fact, I have seen most of them out at the odd home game providing their support.

There is nothing sinister going down at Parkies, just struggling to recruit and hold on to talented footballers. Of which much of the blame could be attributed to our unwarranted "thuggish" reputation.
