Geelong 2010

Talk on the national game

The AFL made an example of Cousins as a warning to WCE IMO. Do you imagine they will do the same to a one off offender as a warning to Geelong who generally handle this type of issue well? If Stokes is convicted he's gone and fair enough but if he walks why do the AFL need to punish Stokes?

It reminds me of the time that Greg Williams got nine weeks for pushing the umpire away to get an an opponent. They wanted to make an example of Williams and they truly jumped on him, as they did with Cousins.

I'm confsued with the comparison, might as well as compare Fevola to Carl Williams. :?
Different cases, different issues, completely different. :?
You are aware Cousins admitted to his drug use aren't you?
That IMHO makes it pretty well proven. :?

Don't get me wrong, if Stokes is proven guilty I think he should be sacked for good but its not like he's embarassing the AFL by abandoning cars, getting around without his top on and acting off his nut.
Stokes has brought the AFL into disrepute once, Cousins did it many times over a long period of time.

I'd hate to think of how many of my mates would have been caught "trafficking" if their phones had been tapped when I was in my late teens!

Clearly the AFL are saying it's fine to traffic mass quantities of drugs, but there'll be hell to pay if you start dipping your nose into your own supply

Lucky the AFL dont see that as an issue or 99% of the players today would be in trouble. ;)

The comparison lies within the fact an elite AFL footballer has direct association with an illegal substance and has been questioned by the police about their involvement.

But as BC pointed out I didn't realise it was 1 gram which really makes that "trafficking" charge sound alot more serious than it is.
I reckon Cousins would be dirty at how Stokesy has flown under radar.

Just on the Pod, it's a great story, I catch a bit of VFL and always wondered why a club never gave him a go.
Makes you wonder why the Crows or Port never took a punt on Chambo as Im sure he'd be of more value than half of the duds they recruit.

DOH! Too top heavy today. Carlton's 'Mosquito Fleet' destroyed us. Not a great day for too many Cats.

Which four sides will finish above us this year?

Sorry REB, just realised you'd responded to this. I had previously thought St Kilda, Collingwood the Bullies and Brissy but not so sure any more.

Yeh, that's the worst game I've seen Bartel play for ages. He had mates, but Ablett was sensational! The guy is a freak. If Podsiadly had kicked straight early, momentum would've swung and you might've actually beaten us, so bad was our forward line functioning.

I thought the midfield won us the game....they're the blokes getting it down to the Brothers.

Yep. Ling should have tagged Judd at the start, not wait until he had 20 touches in the first half. Bartel should have played in the middle, not all over the shop like he did. Kruezer did the job in the ruck as well. I reckon you got just as much drive from your half back line with guys like Walker running off an extremely slow Hawkins who should be back in the magoos on that form.

We are missing Varcoe and Scarlo at the moment and Joel Corey would be a handy in as well. Only Gazza and Kelly could hold their head up yesterday, even Harry had a poor one yesterday and he's been sensational all year. Easily our worst effort all year and full credit to Carlton (geez that hurt!).
