BFC - Nicknamed 'shanty' (drive through Bridgey and have a look for yourself - you'll understand why)

Shanty are mutton dressed up as lamb, oops, I mean a Country club trying to immitate a Central club but doing a piss poor job of it at present.

correct me if im wrong but the u17 finished 6 this year. just a couple games out of the finals! so if that means they struggled i must have the wrong idea of what struggling means! the oval may be small but u don't need your hicking boots to climb from one end of the oval to the other!

Know they were interested in former Sturt Assistant Michael Bowden (spelling?) and I was going to keep my trap shut about it but since he's just been appointed to the senior position at Echunga, I don't think it will matter too much that I've said it. Apparently he was mainly interested in Echunga because he's just moved to Mylor and it was closer (gee, those extra 8 kms would have been a killer!!!!). Know there will be a few smart souls out there who will say they know why but the attitude at Echunga ain't that great at the moment and I know one G Mullins had already decided about half way through the season that he wasn't going to coach there again the next year.
Apparently Bowden is only 32 and is keen to play and is quite handy so Echunga have really managed to fall on their feet yet again.

I played cricket against Bawden in another league and he was a great competitor and a pretty good bloke. I was told that he definitely can play footy but I'm not sure if he did last year. Maybe Cougars or Tumby before that? Loves a drink.

i am not from the country or hills divisions, i follow the southeren league but have an interest with so many ex players now playing in your league. My thoughts on thorpe where mainly from seeing him play against top southeren league teams and preform very well. As an outsider have seen afew games and yep div 1 far ahead of div 2. Kangys would i think as afew have said finnish about 5/6th. what i have heard afew guys at kangys waiting to here who will coach until decided if staying around.

DA I think it's time to pull your head in. Bragging rights for sure, but you have not stopped ! At the very least you should have learnt from the Lofty experience that footy is a viscious circle, and your demise may be just around the corner. The true clubman who has been through the tough times should not need to indulge in your kind of behaviour, but should bask gloriously in the knowledge that you have acheived something great.

We have heard enough of your crap, and Shantyville are where you were not so long ago. TREAD CAREFULLY !

If they recruit a heap of players, no doubt Blake will get shafted and they will give the job to a local favourite like they did five years ago.

Interesting to hear the comments about the two divisions and no one is disputing that Central is far superior but the communities in that division are far bigger.
Country pales in comparison to Central division which in turn pales in comparison to say the Western Border League.
I doubt one particular poster has even seen a Country division match.

Very true there ODB. Country Div is very similar to Mid South East, while Central Div is a rung or 2 below Western Border.
Oh, and your first point............spot on!!! I have heard they have done this on more than one occassion.

Dr. DA's latest comment wasnt talking up our win. simply telling a fellow forumer what he asked. i can guarrentee that the comment would have been the same if we finished last this year. and while we were in fact down where shanty are now, notice that they have been there every year, weve at least had a couple of finals appearences. interesting to find out when the last time shanty played A's finals.

by the way if your so knowledgeable about footy Doc then how would you describe the bridgewater football club to an interested recruit. (without lying to them!!!!!!!)

as lofty no a club isn't just about facilities or results, it's about the people. even when lofty were strugling alot of players stayed as they were friends. shanty may not be successful at moment but the players that are staying there are very close. there were a large number of the shanty players out last weekend enjoying themselves and that also included the 2 recruits from last year and they have al said they are playing for shanty next year and one said that he has played at several clubs and shanty was the best club he had played for, obviously not result wise but people wise. everyone is entitled to their opinion thats what forums are about. shanty facilities are not the best but they will be building new change rooms and also canteen in next year and will be more competitive next year. remember shanty may have lost by 30 goals last year but it is still 20 of lofty's effort!

Doc. Where to start?!!! I don't think I've gone too crazy on the bragging thing, but if you're gonna call it then whatever 2pac - we won three from three!!!!! Winners are grinners!!!!

1. We may be down the bottom again someday, hopefully not soon, but inevitably, we'll make way for another club to have their time in the sun. But, while I'm at the top, I'm going to enjoy every second of it because when you came from as far back as I did, its sweeter than taking Angelina's cherry!

2. The true clubman who has been through the tough times should be drinking his face off, and when he's got no face left then he should be attached to a keg somewhere to get winners piss pumped straight into his veins! Then perform nude Tai Chi!!!

3. We were never at shantyville. Never call a goat a shanty. It's like calling a protestant scottsman a catholic, and that's not cool!

4. 'TREAD CAREFULLY' is that a threat? If so, suck my balls you donkey.

Information on Bridgewater Football Club:-
Worst facilities in HFL - there oval and changerooms are under water for the majority of the season, the fence around the oval collapses on a regular basis, and they insist on defacing their own facilities with blatant grafitti. There oval is the size of your average primary school oval and they have arguably the worst set up for viewing football in the HFL. But apart from that they're going great.

it appears nothing has changed since 1973, except for them building clubrooms and coaches/timekeepers box :D

DA. Daniel Tapp and most players running around would make a fair mess when they ran over the top of you. You can't hide behind your forum name when you step over the white line!

Dunno what your talking about Wolfie.

Anyhoo, unless Mr Tapp and 'most players' can build a time machine, then they'll have to 'run over the top' of someone else.

Sorry to spoil your party.

Gossip ... Kangys reappointed Wayne Stringer just before the finals, so their players are well aware of wot awaits next year ... would they really leave a winning environment ... mite be a hard case, but obviously not a nut case like his brother during a short lived stint at Onkas.

I reckon that bloke at Loby is a pretty tough nut (45?) goes in hard and never shirks an issue!
Seriously, tough don't always mean scaring blokes unfairly, reckon that Brad Burch bloke is one of the hardest guys going around Central.
There has been a dropping off of characters ... what about the days of Brenton and Red Hill, Stormie Normie Tarca, Mark Guimelli, 'Crasher' Daly, Sven Holm (dirtiest bloke to win a medal!), Brenton Smith, Strop Kuchel ... talk about hard, they'd make today's 'hard men' change the jocks regularly! Bring back the biff!

Newman, the most accurate indication you will get about Bridgewater, is that the following comments are straight from the mouth of a shanty, and this is what you can expect from the whole bunch unfortunately.

Common Wolfmother, we're all friends here.

And just because we don't go around belting opposition behind the play doesn't mean we're soft.
