I soooooo hope it's a Glenelg vs Sturt GF this year!! If it's a nice day, i reckon the 2 bandwaggons could quite easily pick up enought passengers down tapleys hill and unley / greenhill roads to make a 45,000 crowd.

In 95 and 96 there was more people at the game to see Port lose than either side win, we went home disappointed of course!

1992 was only terrible weather in the second half. Like so many spring days it started out as a very warm day with a srong northerly (remember Chalmers huge goal wih the wind just before half time). The weather only became terrible after half time. Because the day started out fine, I doubt that the weather had any impact on the crowd at all.

I disagree with you as there was a little thing invented a little before 1992 called the weather forecast my friend!
Over half a dozen of my mates pulled out for that one alone.

I think alot more neutrals would come to see 2 different teams in the GF.
If Centrals had such a huge bandwagon their would have been more then 26,000 at all their GF's vs the Eagles.

As posted (after your post above) in 2000, Central v Eagles drew a bigger crowd (34,819) than Central v Glenelg 2008 (34,128), Central v North 2007 (30,478) and 368 less than Central v Sturt 2002.
In 3 out of 5 Gf's against the Eagles the crowd was more than your selected figure of 26,000.
I guess since no team other than the Eagles has being able to back up a GF appearance against the Dogs over the last decade it's a bit hard to compare figures (which hopefully will continue). :D

Good work by the SANFL in having free parking and allowing a kick on footy park at half time of the matches.
