4. sturt are fantastic when they are allowed to run with the footy, unfortunately for norman and his boys this will never happen against the current glenelg line up.

Thanks for the ammunition! See you in finals, where, let's face it, you have a wonderful record!

The more you Bays fans say things like that the more confident I get that we will break the drought. We are (over)due against you now,and finals are just around the corner...Well done on your 2 points though. Enjoy!

How good was Mills today...C'mon Stampy, surely he was BOG!!!

The pivotal time in todays game occurred at ~20mins into the 2nd quarter when Sturt had a run on and turned it over badly - twice, and at some expense. We never seemed to recover from that...players that stood up in the first quarter and a half went missing. Sad to say, I said to Bays supporting bloke at half time that they would run over us in the 3rd.

The writing was on the board.

SHOCKER!

Just when it seems everything is coming together nicley for the business end of the season and we get a result like this. I wish it could be passed off as an aberration, but obviously we are repeating the same mistakes over, and the Bays are exploiting the same weaknesses. Well done Glenelg for knowing what to do and being able to do it.
Of course the real footy begins a couple of weeks but if we are still following the same script as last year then we are in for a pretty crappy ending. This week against the Dogs is going to be a statement of sorts. I just hope that we have something extra up the sleeve for when it really counts.
Someone on RPH said that Coad was out for today. I don't remember reading about that in the pre match build up. What's the story there?
While on RPH....I guess they figured that updates from Unley weren't a priority seeing that the ABC had it covered, but it sucked from my perspective as I was unable to sit at the internet all day and instead recorded the RPH call in the hope of getting regular updates, and some sense of the game in progress. Instead I got about one score update per quarter. I am sure they have their reasons with the issues of funding or whatever, and without them I would have had nothing to listen to at all, so I just humbly ask that they give more updates in future, if they are able to.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I think Mills did a good job. He beat Chambers one on one 4 or 5 times and Chambers got one on him and kicked a point. I have a fear that the law of averages is that he is going to get a bag against us as he is a quality player I just hope it isn't a match winning bag. The only issue I see is that Norman just left him sitting at Full Forward why not put him up to half forward and lead up where Sturt was breaking down to try and let him get his hands on the Ball. He does appear to be Full Forward or nothing.

While Sturt got extra numbers running the ball once we stopped that Sturt had no real answer as to how to move the ball forward and turned it over time after time. I found it very hard to pick out stand out players for th Bays as IMO it was a very consistent team effort from all 21 guys today.

As for AFL players I think we will get Sellar back maybe Douglas but I think Salopek will be in for surgery next week on his shoulder and Logan could depend on whether Port are going to keep him or trade him? If they are trading him may not let him play to keep him injury free.

Guys like Ruwoldt and Block who were very good today took there chance as they know that with the players out you have to play well to keep your spot. Button has improved and seems to be playing with confidence and as a previous post said it would have been his best game at league level today.

All I can say is with Fisher, Grima and Holmes to come back let alone any AFL players I'm glad I am not a selector.

The team which lined up against the bays will not be the team they will face in the finals...

Thurstans, Trengrove, Mcleay... mmmm

Maybe Vas?

Is Riley eligible? Im guessing hasnt played enough games?

Well done to Glenelg, far too good on the day and back to the drawing board for Normo and the boys. Once again our inabilty to compete at the stoppages and undersized backline when up against a big, strong forward set up cost us dearly. Thurstans is a must have for our finals campaign and IF McLeay can play enough footy between now and the first final then he too will be very important for our structure. He is coming from a long way back but his size and strength are vital. Add young Jack Trengove to our midfield/forward line and I am certainly still confident we can do some damage come the major round.

One final point, to all of those Glenelg supporters that poured scorn on Brant Chambers yesterday (how any 600 goal full forward can be labelled 'sh*t', amongst many other colourful descriptions, is beyond me), and for the obsessed morons such as a certain poster on this site that thinks it's funny to highlight his lack of goals in a petty avatar......beware the wounded beast. Sturt had a paltry 21 inside 50's yesterday, not even the legendary Ken Farmer himself would do any better starved of opportunity like that. If Sturt can sort out the midfield when and if they meet Glenelg in the finals, Chambers will kick goals. He and the Sturt Football Club are due....

Again well done to Mark Mickan and his well drilled team.

Yep I agree mst - still if he wants to look like a front running tool let him. I can't recall ever seeing that sort of thing from any Centrals supporter and after a decade of dominance they perhaps have the only right to be that obnoxious. I must have missed the decade of dominance from Glenelg?
