Go Egypt!!! Love seeing Italy lose. Their goalkeeper was soo funny, he was the cheerleader for the crowd. He was also the one who kept them in the game with at least 2 great saves. The group is wide open now.

I think you ment World Champions Italy lost ;) , Thats was shocking by the Italians, there better not play like that during qualifying or the world cup because we (I've been thought this enough) wont be going far, all credit to Egypt though they took the game to us and deserved to win, the only problem I have is Lippi will say this is why Italy shouldn't play the young players (to Lippi anyone under 30 is young) and why we should stick with experiance, correct me if I'm wrong but inst this the compertion you should play the kids in.....
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

I wouldn't worry too much WSC.

Italy have that knack of grinding out results. A bit like Germany. They don't shine too often in the qualifiers or the group stages, just enough to get through and then they come into their own in the big games.

The last group games, group a

Spain 2 - 0 South Africa (I didn't watch tonights games, I had to deal with drunken idiots)

Goals - Spain - Villa 52', Llorente 72'

Iraq 0 - 0 New Zealand ( how did Iraq not atleast score 1 past the kiwis)

Table
Spain 9 points (+8 goal dif)
South Africa 4 points (0 goal dif)
Iraq 2 points (-1 goal dif)
New Zealand 1 point (-7 goal dif)

this means Spain and South Africa qualify though to the semi's

Spain V group b runner up
South Africa v group b winner
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

USA 3 - 0 Egypt (didnt watch the game but from all reports was an attacking game and the USA finsihed there chances)

Table
Brazil 9 points (+7 goal dif)
USA 3 points (-2 goal dif) (4 goals scored)
Italy 3 points (-2 goal dif) (3 goals scored)
Egypt 3 points (-3 goal dif)

Brazil and USA though to the semis

I know what your saying we seem to do it at every Euro and World cup tournament we play in, but if we are going to take players who dont want to be there and old players we are in big trouble we need to start playing our younger players this would of been the perfect tounament to see if they were ready to step up, the one thing we did find out is that the world cup winning players are past it (besides gigi buffon) and maybe Lippi should of stayed retired.

Pretty ordinary by Egypt. Almost take a point off Brazil, beat Italy then get smashed by USA who are very ordinary.

Hopefully it's a Spain v Brazil final. Surely it will be. That would be worth getting up for! Could be a preview of the World Cup final perhaps?

lets be honest though any competition which has Egypt, USA, South Africa and New Zealand involved isn't really anything major to brag about.

I mean Egypt are struggling and will be lucky to make it through their own qualifers, NZ will NOT make the world cup, while SA didn't make the last WC and are only in due to being host.

Good luck to the USA hopefully you go on and win this comp, then get knocked out the group stage at the WC where it counts by us nobody's Australia ;)

Lets not forget that the MLS season which makes up most of the USA team is in full swing at the moment while the European seasons which make up most of the Spain team are in there off season.

I would also think that the USA which is all but guarenteed a spot in the WC due to a lack of quality in their region can focus on tournaments such as this as they know they will appear at the WC. While Spain still have to qualify for the WC i think they would have an eye towards their qualifers more so than this tournament.

What I can't understand is how a team who have won 15 consecutive games up to this point and containing players such as Fernando Torres, David Villa, Iker Casillas, Cesc Fabregas, Xavi, Carles Puyol, Sergio Ramos and Andres Iniesta to name just a few, can lose to the US!?!

Don't mean to shoot you down mate, but were the US ever rated?

They are trousers and this result proves that the sun shines on a dogs arse some days too.

This result will build expectation, which will all come horribly unstuck at the real thing next year. It will be beautiful to watch too.
