yes a few of us went down there. would have been more but for the weather. membership is legit free till 30/4/10. cost us about $20each for a cart. Nice and friendly people there. Took about 1hr and 15min to get there. Greens are not to bad as are the fairways. not a overly long course but very hilly. we had a chat to a few of the locals and they said they took over the management about 2 months ago and since then the course has been well kept. think the course will only get better.

as for my golf Pj obriens got the better of me the night before and i was not well at all. shot 88 but left a lot of good shots on the course.

Played 4 ball Ambrose with the social club at Mt Compass yesterday...

Teed off at 7.20am and it was bloody wet, windy and freezingly, bitterly cold !!!

Thw team I was with had 2 older fellas that really didn't do much and we ended up shooting 3 over on the front 9 and 1 under on the back to post a 2 over scorecard.

The course was nice and green and the fairways were very good but the greens were the worst I have seen them. All very patchy and of course with all the rain, very soggy and wet.

From a NSW Tourism Website...

Attraction - Sport and Recreation

Coomealla Golf Club:

The picturesque golf club on the banks of the Murray River.

Situated right on the banks of the Murray River, the Coomealla Golf Club is arguably one of the country’s finest.

The Golf Club offers a comprehensive range of facilities including a comfortable, air-conditioned clubhouse. Light snacks and meals are available, complemented by a well stocked bar.

There is the welcoming Pro-Shop with a comprehensive range of equipment for sale and hire. There is also the popular outdoor barbecue area.

You buy the timeshare for an initial cost then you pay maintenance each year which gives you a week in the resort you own the week at. If you dont want to use the week in the year you can bank it and take 2 weeks the next year and so on. You can also use your week in other resorts. I would have taken the timeshare for a bottle fo scotch for sure ;)

Anyone know why they are offering free memberships?

Are there any hidden costs / agendas?

I think it's the fact that the resort has sort of being in limbo for the last few years.

A way of trying to get people back down there and using the facilities.

The only cost if any, is if you want an official Handicap, so you just pay the SAGA affiliation fee.

Just doing some research on a few clubs around the metro area and they charge anywhere between $20-$40 for affiliation fees.

Who here actually has a handicap?

Found out mine was 29.0 in April 2006. But I haven't submitted a card since. Hopefully will head south in the near future as I have applied to Riverside with their no joining fee for the month of June

If you haven't submitted a card since then, you'll need to submit probably 3 cards now to get your handicap again and then make sure you submit at least 5 cards every 12 months to keep your handicap

I'm currently down to 12 (11.9) at the Vines.
