Telstra.

Bloody Telstra.

Our phone got cut off today. No idea why. Called Telstra, to be told it was cut off for non-payment of the bill, which was sent out in mid-February. Well and good, but I never got the bill. Nor did I get the reminder. The guy checked out billing address, it was correct. Then he let me pay by credit card over the phone, and said that we were reconnected.

Got home to find the phone still not working. Called Telstra again. This time, the lass quoted our billing address as 2 doors down on the same street. Curiously enough, we'd recently been getting the phone bills for two-doors-down in our letterbox, with our street number. I had simply been dropping them in their letterbox (once I had determined their address via the phone book) and not thinking any more of it. Instantly I realised what had happened: For no good reason, Telstra had swapped our billing address with two-doors down.

I went and knocked on their door to confirm this. The old bloke said he had been getting our bill, but not knowing who we were, he had written "not at this address" on the envelope and dropped it back into the post.

How does a company manage to transpose the street numbers on two seperate accounts? And why is this error visible to some of the minions who work there but not to others?

that's funny pseudo i got a 'red letter' only today that i haven't paid my bill either (fortuneately i keep the receipts) anyway i played along for a little while & heard the 'we need immediate payment blah blah blah' & i said when i'm in credit do i ring you & tell you that you have my money ? ;) then i went on & gave him the receipt numbers & all of a sudden he was very apologetic....had i not had the receipts i would have thought oh i've forgotten & paid for it again...moral of the story is keep the receipts ;)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Telstra too!
This time I got an account rendered for an allegedly overdue payment I'd sent a cheque for 10 days earlier.

I rang them 3 times:
1st - I got what sounded like a Philipina with a trace of a US accent who didn't comprehend what I was on about. When I asked for a number to ring head office she gave me the number which had got me to her.
2nd - I got a bloke who seemed helpful but cut me off transferring me.
3rd - I rang "Complaints" who checked and said the cheque had not been received and I should cancel it and re-issue it.

Next morning my contact in ANZ Private Banking, whom I had rung next, rang me back to say my cheque was presented an hour after I made the call to "Complaints".
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Before someone asks without any tact.

You wont be showing this 'area' off at the wedding, would you? I mean a black eye you cant hide but ....
