should factory & outside workers be excempt from working

im a glazier and its been pretty warm, my utes aircon so driving from job to job is pretty sweet! my boss normally just gives me indoor jobs on days like these and we normally pack up around 2.30ish! still bloody warm

well should people working in areas not airconditioned & not crucial to the state be excempt from working in tempreatures like today ?

Unfortunately my business this week & the next has promised finishing times for customers to have partys in their back yards & following on trades booked some weeks ago. On the good side our current customer has taken pity on us & we can finish his site in a fortnights time as long as the retaining walls & paving is finished (today). Luckily we're up Victor from Sunday, 30c tops.
What we do (thus the ridiculous posting time) is roll up at 5.30, start at first light & go until 12 or so, 3 x 20 min breaks in between. Seems to go ok, the blokes who work for me are half my age & when I drop everyones sent home.
That 45c day next door they laid 2 slabs till 12, 20 concrete trucks & no break. Hard bastards, but if it's booked it's booked.

working on the afternoon shift , hottest part of the day , and the area work in has furnaces with the temp set at 860 degrees , makes for a hot day.

On the outside workers I truly feel for them,but,what about people in warehouses? They may not be at the mercy of the sun but the conditions in our warehouse yesterday were oppresive. 42c in the coolest spot.

I think 38 you can choose to go home,without pay.40 you must go home with pay.

Wonder what the unions would think of that?
