identifying safooty users

Postby the big bang » Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:56 pm

there should be a pin/badge/brochure made, that those safooty.net users who dont mind being identified can wear (specially at their local footy) so other users know they are "users".

i'd love to meet and greet most of the people on here, but have no way of identifying who is who!!

Besides facebook, I think once upon a time grand pooba Wedgie had T-Shirts or caps in mind.

PM's are handy, I've teed up to meet a few of people from here when I know that we are going to be at the same game. I like the brain-racking exercise of trying to work out who other posters are, I've successfully worked out at least twenty and caught up with some friends from the past.

A special handshake would work well. Do it to everyone you ever meet and wait for someone to respond ;)

Hopefully sometime in the future we'll have an SAFooty event of sorts, whether that be a Quiz Night or just general catchup/beers where punters can catch up with those they've already met and meet posters they don't know.

It's always funny when you're meeting someone at the footy/cricket/soccer/BDO for the first time and you're walking around looking at likely possibilities as to who your fellow poster is.
Then you see someone, go up and say "G'day, I'm Dogwatcher." There's a moment of trepidation where you wonder if the person is going to know WTF you are talking about....

It was equally as embarrassing anyway. Turk told me to go and have a beer with him, he'll be at the van, I've gone up for the 2nd time and asked a bloke who had been standing there for a while if he was turk, he wasn't. I spent the next few minutes trying to explain myself without looking like I'd teed up a meeting through connections.

Why shouldn't they? If it's good enough to appear in print - The Tiser.
