Good to see Compass sign up Samuels again, Braidwood back at compass in 09. Also good to see Princi going around again.

Sorry a2m, but can't really say as i don't like to pass on these rumours if they are just bulls#@%!!
Don't think it will do the club much justice if i start spreading these things. Just thought i would let our fellow Mclaren people know!
Haven't heard this Fabian Francis rumour though  !

Have heard the club still need to interview a couple more people and seeing as applications close late next week will make a decision after that. It doesn't seem that any decisions have been made yet KK so don't get too worried!

Samuels at compass next year is a very good recruiter and is already looking at a few players to strengthen the squad. So far all of this years squad are keen to play on and with a very young playing group there is a good feeling around the club. D. East also to return with Braidwood in '09. Batzavalis as reserves coach is also very important to the clubs depth. There may be a few retirements which might open the door for some of the senior colt lads who are stepping up.

I've heard some crazy figures for the coin that some of the compass boys are on. I've heard figures that compare to what top SANFL players would be on. Any truth to these rumours?

Definately no crazy figures at compass GA. Samuels is very astute in his recruiting with a relatively small budget in comparison to other clubs. Over the last year or two some of our players have been offered plenty more $$$ to play elsewhere but to their credit have resisted this to stay with a good buch of blokes and loyal to the coach. Yes, there are still players out there who aren't in it purely for the money! Anyway, there is no money in cows and the club certainly doesn't have it's own wine label (although i wish we did).

Money does not guarantee success - look at Saints this year and they finished bottom.
Everyone knows Schmidt, Burdett, Bailey, Cheetham and Fromm are all on good coin and deservedly so. Bays did better this year spending half the budget than 2007.
Don't Pongy have their own milk label?
How do you compete with Willunga if you do not recruit?
